USWNT WC Roster

Am I the only one who finds it strange that US Soccer is already promoting the "one nation, one team, 23 stories" uswnt version already?

Does this mean the that they already selected the 23 players going, but haven't announced it yet?

Because when they did the men's version last year, the trailer for it premiered like a week and a half before the actual world cup started, and about 2 weeks after they announced the 23 players going to the WC, but now with the USWNT they gave us the trailer almost a full 2 months before the WWC.

So does this mean, they just shot it with all the players in camp at the time, and are then just gonna cut out the parts with the players that didn't make the roster (but that doesn't really make any sense because that would be a waste of time/money), or have they already secretly chosen the 23 players?

why are mexican soccer fans always sore losers, first they throw shit at the US fans at the game just cause their team can't seem to score, and now their saying that the US got lucky, or that the win doesn't matter because it was just a friendly.

I'm pretty sure if mexico had won all the mexican fans would be saying shit like "Told you mexico is better" or "haha you still can't win in the Azteca" or something along those lines

and there always so disrespectful when the US national anthem comes on.

p.s. I'm not talking about all mexicans just those select assholes that do this kind of shit

I'm so pissed off by all the nonsense right now, mfs who haven't watched a single match that gio played before WC are making things up to creat a shitty image of him.

First of all, I don't believe anything that comes out of berhalter's mouth, he said himself during the group stage that gio couldn't play because of injury, the decision was made to protect him, yet after the knockout stage failure, telling the media such nasty stories, training problem, locker room problem, trying to book gio a flight home and the damn vote, nothing is related to professionalism, even IF gio does have attitude problems (which I strongly doubt), it's still completely wrong to handle things this way, not to mention his history of lying and the fact that he has had problems with multiple players before, such as Brooks and Mckennie, I just can't simply trust berhalter's words.

Secondly, I know there are lots of people who know the name Gio Reyna only because of his father and haven't actually seen Gio play or seen what he is capable of on the pitch, so when something like this happens, people are supposed to believe the coach's story and automatically think Gio as some kind of spoiled rich kid who is relying on his dad's fame to get his place in the national team. No, he is none of these, yes he has his pride, and that's what he has earned for himself over the years, it's common that you haven't seen the videos of him playing in NY when he was 14/15 yo or his HAT TRICK of assists at 17yo (that made him the youngest player in bundesliga to achieve it btw), but you must have seen his glorious run playing against Mexico in the WC qualifiers right? People have to understand that, this kid, this young man is destined to achieve something that no one else can. Yes he is injured earlier this year and didn't get enough minutes at the club, but when he's fit, he starts, and he scores, because we have faith in him and he has never disappoint us.

Now let's get to the emotional part, I know it sounds cliche, but his heart is pure gold, if you've ever noticed he has a little tattoo, on his left arm, says love Jack, I believe you'd agree with me. Jack was his big brother and everything to him, he didn't play for his famous dad, he played and he is still playing this sport for Jack, because of Jack, he's humble, he's polite, he's caring, he's sweet, he always smiles and he treats people with kindness. Yes, that doesn't mean he's so perfect that won't do anything wrong, what I'm saying is, if he does something wrong, he will correct the mistake, he won't make a mess about it. He's a good kid who has just returned from injury, there's no reason for him not to cherish the opportunity to start in the WC, but to be lazy in training, I see no logic in this mess. He wants to show his talent, wants the country to be proud of him, wants his family to be proud of him, wants Jack to be proud of him, more than anyone else.

That's all, my only wish is that people will stop seeing him through the media, but through the game, through what he does on the field, through how his performance can make a difference, even just a few minutes like that one against England. And that's the real Gio Reyna.

He's not a big name right now, but he will. Maybe Berhalter has told some lies, but there is one thing he said I firmly believe, that he can see the shadow of Maradona in Gio.

Let him shine.

The thing is, Berharlter should keep his mouth shut. He's the one who told media gio was injured thus can't play before and he made the decision to protect him, now he saying gio is lack of effort? He literally proved himself a liar. And the way my boy ain't got no respect from this corny man is so fking unbelievable, he's only 20, he's insanely talented, he's absolutely fit and he should've been started in every game.

And I can't be more mad about the fact they're selling the story that gio was lazy in training, and he had problems with his teammates, excuse YOU??? I'm sorry but he's loved by all at Dortmund, are you familiar with the name haaland? that man praised gio and called gio American Dream, that says a lot. He has never got into a feud with anyone, he's hardworking, there's no coach has ever said a bad word about him, none from Favre, Rose and Terzic, except Berharlter. He's such a sweet kid, we were genuinely heartbroken when he left the field in tears because of his injury earlier this year, that's how good he is, and that's why I ain't buying no shit from those chaotic mess.

Sometimes I hate football, people just judge and criticise things they don't even know about, calling gio ungrateful, should be a better person, etc. It's kinda sad.

Meanwhile I'm proud of him, and I'll always be. As I said it before, he's only 20, he's insanely talented, he's absolutely fit and he just scored a goal yesterday right after WC.

He has the world at his feet.

from feeling you are on top of the world to watching your loved one in the coffin,life sure is unpredictable.

it was hard to comprehend why was this happening to christian,but there was nothing either of you could’ve done to bring his grandfather back to life. it all happened so quickly,he never had a chance to say goodbye to him.

to make timing even worser,it was a week before he planned to introduce you to him. it was about time because his grandfather wanted to meet who is that girl that got him utterly infatuated. not to mention he was the first one to hear all about you. it was not a secret that christian trusted his judgment very much.

even though unfortunately he never got to meet you,he was absolutely sure that you were “the one” for christian. the way his eyes light up everytime he would even think about you,the way he could not help to smile when he was taking about you… all the signs were there.

and yet there was not a single sign that was the last time he will ever see him alive and play chess with him. you immediately knew something terribly wrong happened when u saw a tear falling from his left eye after answering his sister’s call. quiet “what’s wrong” escaped from your lips as you sat down on floor next to him.

he still couldn’t process these news and it felt like time has stopped. all he could do at that moment melt down into your embrace.

it took him a while to realize that opening up is never not something to be ashamed of. he thought he was too tough to need help and didn’t wanted to be a bother to you with his rants.

eventually, you assured him when it’s all on him,it can feel like a lot. that’s not how it should be and it won’t be as long as he has you by his side. this was the first time he broke down in tears in front of you even though he showed vulnerability before,it was nothing like this.

it felt like hours passed before he managed to say devastating news out loud. this meant your trip to his family is gonna happen sooner than you planned. too bad it was under these unfortunate circumstances.

one of the reasons he didn’t really open to anyone because he couldn’t stand “i totally understand how you feel” sentence. already prone to over-analyzing everything,this just made him feel like nobody is actually listening. somehow you knew he hated hearing that and you never used it. even when you didn’t feel whatever was bothering him on your own skin,you did understand it.

however,this time you understand from your own experience. you were very close with your grandparents as a kid. they taught you pretty much there is to learn. reading,tying your shoelaces,writing,manners…and when both of them passed away in a short period of time,it felt unreal.

him and his grandfather had their thing and it was playing chess. after the funeral,christian wanted to see his room one last time. you wanted to give him privacy to do it but he wanted you to come with him. he took your hand and gently pulled you to him. when you entered room,his look was immediately on chess board next to vinyl recorder and you started to put pieces together.

“wait,that’s why you have tattoo of chess piece?”

“one of reasons,yeah. he taught me how to play when i was younger,but i am nowhere near level.”

“i didn’t even know you knew how to play it.”

“i guess i never mentioned it,but me and kante sometimes play it on plane. we always have good battles but it’s hard to beat him.”

“i’m here if you wanna feel like beth from queen’s gambit. absolutely clueless about how any of this is working.”

“hm,i think out of all people you would understand it. “

“why?”

“he used to say that life is like chess because it consists of very limited number of moves. you need to make good use of them and create your own opportunities-just like i did with you.”

“well whatever you did is definitely working on me.”
