I bought this beautiful lady for $30 at a flea market! A lovely 1937 Smith and Corona type 11 typewriter. I can't wait to clean her up and test her out š„° Everything seems to work and it seems to have all the parts. Just needs some serious deep cleaning and then I can test it out. I'm very excited.
We used to have one like the Hunter S. Thompson one. Weighed a ton and was the color of cloudy piss.Ā

bringing my little typewriter to work with me is always fun because so many customers do a double take and go "what on earth is that" and then i get to infodump about my best friend the neo alphasmart 3000 who has seen me through many dangers
its my 21st birthday in a month and i really want to buy a typewriter as a gift to myself and sort of like an āiām proud of you for making it this farā kind of thing.Ā iām a writer and a hopeless romantic so iāve been wanting one for quite some time but i told myself i couldnāt have one until i started writing properly and actually seeing it through. iām about to reach the halfway mark of my first novel length piece of writing and iāve also been songwriting consistently for over a year now so i figured i had finally earned it.Ā
anyway the reason iām posting is because i know almost nothing about typewriters so i have pretty much no idea how to go about buying one.Ā if anyone knows about typewriters and would be able to give me some tips/advice about buying one that would be so so so appreciated !!Ā
