this is a great tutorial
some notes on drawing fat bodies in a stylized or cartoony art style! i tried to explain and illustrate things i keep in mind while drawing :)
Plotting is so much easier when you remember that editing exists; if it doesn’t go right the first time, you can fuck around later and make it better once you’ve got a clearer picture in your head of what you’re after
Your story probably isn’t gonna look even close to your plotting notes by the end of it, and that’s a good thing; it means your drafting worked

One of the most life-changing things I ever learned came from Mythbusters, where they tested and proved (with cognitive testing puzzles and reaction time tests) that lying down and resting with the intention to sleep STILL provided significant mental benefits over just staying awake, even if a person couldn’t fall asleep in the amount of time they had.
It helps me to actually sleep to know that just lying down with my eyes closed is still doing me some good, and helps me to not freak out/beat myself up when I stay up later than intended. Any amount of rest is better than no rest!

no because no one talks about star tear disease (星涙病) when it's just as cool as Hanahaki disease (and in my opinion cooler but whatever).
it's not deadly like hanahaki but unlike hanahaki, it can never be cured.
the illness sprouts from unrequited love. the subject will begin to cry starts accompanied by twinkling sounds.
it's an eyeborn disease and you will start to become colorblind and can even extend to the patient losing sight completely.
the 'crying rainbow tears' is like crying out every color you ever saw. if the subject happens to get their feeling required, they'll stop crying stars but the damage can't be undone. leaving them color blind/blind forever.
in my opinion it's a lot better then hanahaki and yet no one knows of it, so depressing

I wasn't expecting to run into an incredible Metroid post on Tumblr today...
metroid is about isolation
but metroid is also about learning to do trick jumps from random animals who celebrate when you get it right, and about saving them even as the planet shudders under your feet
and metroid is about lowering your gun when you meet the last of a species who's only just hatched, and gently holding out your hand
and metroid is about accidentally calling the name of someone you care about, who you thought you'd lost, and finding out they've been with you the whole time
and about a little scribble of a child with their parents tucked into the corner of a grand mural
and about the gifts left behind by others because they may be gone before they get to meet you, but that won't stop them from helping you

Forgiveness
I don't often post stuff like this, but it's a subject that has been on my mind here and there for many years now, and a video by Farron Cousins brought it to mind again. It's about the religious right, and their weird-arse mindset about everything. So much of it can be traced to the concept of forgiveness. As such, I'm gonna paste my exact comment from that video here; note that I do not capitalize a certain word because it does not deserve it:
It's a thing I never understood about christianity… and it's a huge magnet for abuse. Forgiveness is asking something of someone when too much has already been taken from them. I'm not talking, like, "omg honey I'm so sorry, I broke your favorite mug while doing the dishes." That's an accident, that's not the kind of forgiveness I'm talking about. It's the "get out of jail free card" version that's rotten to the core, and it keeps abusers abusing and enablers enabling, and the victims learn to literally need the abuse to be normal.
you know what the funniest part of cumplane relationship to me is? that airplane remembers sy’s Internet handle. because airplane, at the point he realizes sy is a transmigrator, has been dead in his own world for decades. he hasn’t seen a computer in decades and so it would have been very normal for him to have forgotten many Internet handles. Heck, this guy probably does not even remember his own damn password. Again, very normal considering everything.
So like, what level of insane dickriding did Shen Yuan do to CEMENT his Internet handle onto airplane’s brain is beyond me but it sure makes me giggle harder the more I think about it
Oh, the second video brings back warm memories from my early childhood. My mom played this a lot especially whenever I was in the car with her. I even listen to it sometimes just for nostalgia and also because the song is so beautiful.
