Your personal Tumblr journey starts here
I've made this list for Reddit some time ago. Now, I'm reposting it here with some minor fixes.
I am in desperate need for Misaeng: Incomplete life fanfics đ
There are literally none at all đ so if there are any writers out there that are bored and have no idea what to write, here is a recommendation (I'm begging you actually), especially if it's Han Seok Yul, Kang Hae-joon or Jang Baek-ki đ§đźââď¸đ
the thing about people who are like âi donât like tolkien that much, fantasy should move on and be betterâ is that i AGREE that fantasy has all the wrong holdovers from lotr. but when you ask those people what contemporary fantasy they think is better, theyâll say shit like name of the wind or game of thrones, and i do not relate to thatâŚ..at all?? or even, like, brandon sanderson, whose books i REALLY like. but if youâre still naming mostly white straight male authors, what is it about tolkien you wanted to leave behind exactly???
This channel honestly has some really deep hitting dialogue at times
Heehee
Hoohoo
Lol, I drew this per request of a friend once and now he is here! He's certainly a clown; a deranged and evil one at that! The arrow says so!
Tbh I also wanna get back into Creepypasta a bit, but like...where to look? I want fresh spooks! Hopefully quality ones, too! Any good horror things for me to get into? I mean, I already know about Welcome Home, but I need m o r e-
Does anybody have any fic recs of Sayaka successfully killing Leon? Or fics of Leon not killing Sayaka?
(Iâm desperate)

"...but, hey, I'm pretty happy with this one."
As you should be!
The modern world has very little space for giant monsters to roam the land.
If any of the large sapient lizards - the greater elemental dragons, fire and ice drakes, wyverns, wyrms, or any others you can think of - still live today, they certainly donât venture far from their inhospitable hiding places. Human settlements have encroached too far into the wild edges of the lands. Even the skies and seas are not entirely untouched.
However, just as the more widely-known living fossils like coelacanths and tuataras continue to survive, if one knows where to look, there still remain small populations of dragonets scattered across the globe. They have adapted through necessity to living on the quieter edges where human influence, though undeniably present, begins to fade into wilderness.
Like their larger relatives, these small creatures are sapient and have some influence over the elements. However, these lesser dragons branched off quite some time ago from their more powerful and more intelligent giant cousins. Even the most unusually large dragonets are no bigger than a small domestic cat.
Consequently, their abilities donât quite match up to dragons of medieval lore.
Dragonets have a level of intelligence roughly equivalent to a young human child.
They understand human languages well but may struggle to articulate themselves fully, given that inter-dragonet communication uses an intricate combination of scents, pheromones, scale colour changes, and elemental flares such as barely detectable atmospheric pressure changes alongside any vocalisations. As a result, they only have so much patience left for polishing up their grammar.
Itâs really anyoneâs guess whether itâs the brain equivalence to a small child or the genetic link to greater dragons that makes them so temperamental and so keen to hoard shiny things for themselves.
The different populations of dragonets have started diverging into subspecies at this point, with different types showing different elemental affinities.
The pictured specimenâs tendency to leave trails of frost lacing from its path may seem to imply that this type throw ice magic out into their environment, maybe because they love the cold. The fact of the matter is, the opposite is true - they just like to keep warm, and their bodies absorb heat from around them to such an extreme degree that they drop the temperature of everything around them. They are far less snappy and more energetic in the summer when their bodies donât have to work so hard to maintain their preferred high core temperature.
More than one shrewd hedgewitch has picked up on this, over the years.
The promise of a warm fireside for the winter, along with all the cat food pouches they can eat, has been quite effective in convincing frost dragonets to form a partnership of sorts.
They still need to be treated with respect, and they must have free access to the outdoors, of course; draconians of any size cannot tolerate captivity. However, they can bond with the right sort of humans, and those that do so quickly learn that they rather enjoy a ride in a shirt pocket or on a shoulder when offered.
It is also well-known among such favoured witches that dragonets are surprisingly good with their children, particularly their little girls.
A lesser dragon is still a dragon, after all.
And dragons do so love a princess.
~~~
This time around the picture came first. I just really love dragons, and wanted to dream up a way a pocket-sized one could exist. Once I saw its face, I knew I wasnât going terribly verbose on the poem this time.
It doesnât often talk to humans, but itâs trying its best.
Iâve also seen âdragonetâ sometimes used to refer to baby dragons, so let me be absolutely clear that yes, Iâm using that here as a separate species name, and this is a full-grown adult one ready to fight you for that shiny bottle cap.
I love bearded dragons, so I went straight to that as my baseline for the picture. Which I dedicated far too much time to, as usual, but hey, Iâm pretty happy with this one.
Best types of country songs:
I recommend this show. The art style is eye candy, for one. The show incorporates Chinese mythology with modern interpretations/situations, so even if you don't know much about them, it is still easy to connect with and understand the characters.
Additionally, the gags in this animation are playful and visually interesting; the jokes are creative and fresh. Each episode has unique instances of exaggerated depictions of emotions, visual punchlines, and recurring jokes that appear in unexpected ways.
The show is starts off as a slice-of-life with a "monster of the week" structure that contributes to worldbuilding (a new mythical creature needs help, and we learn about their powers + why they are struggling in the modern world), but hints of deeper secrets and lore are dropped throughout. As the series progresses, layers of secrets are unraveled which seem to be building up into a larger narrative.
Finally, there is yuri.
This is such a cute show. I love the animation! Itâs about the modern lives of many of the Chinese mythical creatures. Just sharing in case anyone else thinks it looks interesting.
Also, itâs got the option to turn on English subs. For those like me who need them.
I literally cannot overstate how important creative hobbies are when dealing with mental illness. If you canât draw, there are coloring books. If you canât write a novel, you can write in short journaling bursts. If you canât sing in the shower, you can listen to music. Sometimes with mental illness it feels like we have this dark presence inside of us that is bumping around in our brain and organs, causing problems. It helps immensely to let it out.
i cannot keep quiet about this anymore.
if you're in the US or Canada and interested in learning a language using a free app please get a library card and download MANGO. it's very good and extremely free with a library card (there are many public libraries and universities using the service, so make an account and use the search feature here to find out if there's one near you).
mango currently has 72 available languages and dialects (that's right! different courses for french or canadian french! spanish or latam spanish!). it's set up basically like an audiobook with text. the idea is that the narrator explains the words while you read, and you repeat after them or say the translation out loud when prompted. there's a daily review where you go through flashcards. you can also use the flashcards at your leisure and create your own. at the end of each chapter there's a listening comprehension quiz and a reading comprehension quiz. i cannot emphasize how effective this all is. and it's free with a card.
if you're not in the US or Canada and/or looking for something more like duolingo (don't use duolingo btw tldr they fired translators and replaced them with "ai"), then try BUSUU! it only has 14 languages atm but the lessons are really descriptive and effective. it also has a feature where you can correct other people's open-ended speaking/typing exercises. you set your fluent languages, and exercises by people learning those languages will appear in your feed for you to correct. you can even add others as friends! and, much like duolingo, it has a streak and leaderboard system for you to strive for, minus the guilt-tripping owl.
busuu is free (you watch ads to unlock lessons and they're all skippable after like five seconds), although it also has paid premium/plus versions (i don't use the paid versionâthe language courses are available for free, and the ad system is Really unobtrusive).
so that's my wisdom for the day. mango and busuu. please check them out :)
in decent quality too!
Book recommendation for anyone who has ever spent any time in academia as either a teacher or a student. The Saber-Tooth Curriculum is a 1939 sharp-witted critique of the educational system that hasnât lost an ounce of relevance in the 77 years since its publication. Its pseudonymous author J. Abner Peddiwell describes a society of cavemen who refuse to update their curriculum of fish-grabbing, horse-clubbing, and tiger-scaring long after the environment around them has changed. The book serves as an excellent argument against the fallacious logic often used in the defense of preserving tradition in academia.
đđđđ ďšďšďš
women in rock and itâs sub genres ONLY! focusing on women of color, and particularly vocalists. playlist inspired after listening to sonic youth and starting kim gordonâs book! example artists:Â paramore, meet me @ the altar, tonight alive, and more.
early 00s melancholy
a combination playlist of shoegaze, grunge, japanese rock, experimental rock, post - punk, and more. itâs all about the gloom and doom⌠laying on the floor type of music. also features some dream pop and indie music. example artists: slowdive, mazzy star, cocteau twins, deftones
i just wanna feel something
a random mix of really good songs, particularly metal and post - hardcore, thatâll make you feel something. the lyrics can be kinda emotional, but fun! example artists: nine inch nails, ladybaby, johnny goth, poppy, babymetal
#%  â ď¸đ˘  !!
another big master playlist. throwing entire rock albums from various artists and genres. goth, pop punk, post - hardcore, metal, screamo, emo, etc. music ranges from the 80s to now. on shuffle you can hear anyone from the cure to my chemical romance to kittie, so on and forth.
ŕźť â ŕźş
remember watching emo sims 2 music videos on youtube when you were like 8? to songs like my immortal and all around me? thatâs just this playlist.
at least in this lifetime
japanese rock, progressive rock, and indie. short and simple. inspired by the movies all about lily chou chou and blue spring.
iâll devour you; bones and all!
this is kind of niche but i love when the pop girls dip their toes into the rock genre and either: 1.) completely go from making pop to rock, 2.) make full on rock songs, 3.) make rock remixes to their pop songs, or 3.) make a pop / rock fusion song. this playlist is me trying to find as many as those as i can, as well as mixing in a few straight up rock songs [& its sub genres] that i can find. this playlist is a work in progress and a little experimental.
okay so true detective season 1 has been my hyperfixation for years now and it has left a giant void in my life like⌠nothing will ever be this good ever again. so in case any of you feel the same way I made a list of media that helped me with getting into a mindset that at least somewhat resembles the true detective s1 experience:
- Memories Of Murder (2003)
- Sicario (2015)
- Arrival (2016)
- The Conspiracy Against the Human Race by Thomas Ligotti
- Better Never To Have Been by David Benatar
- Saint Maud (2019)
- The Florida Project (2017)
- both Galveston and Between Here and the Yellow Sea by Nic Pizzolatto
- books on the show itself: Time Is A Flat Circle by Melissa Milazzo and True Detective And Philosophy (Blackwell)
- anything by Lovecraft tbh
- also anything by Zapffe :)
- The Devil All The Time (2020)
- Negative Space by Yeager
feel free to add onto my list please I am begging you
I've been really into CaitVi x reader lately (cuz why choose when you can have both?)
I just don't know how to look for it. Does anyone have any recommendations? I would honestly appreciate anything lol
