the first half of this week was so productive for me! I finessed my language studying schedule and have decided to focus on French, Spanish and Korean and then passively study Chinese and Irish (and by that i mean studying them when i feel like it rather than reaching a weekly goal lol).
the past 3 days tho i didn't study at all but this week and getting back into studying my languages went a lot better for me than i expected so i'm happy either way :-)

What's The Best Way To Split Up Language Learning When Learning 2+ Languages At The Same Time?
For example, I'm currently studying Spanish and Korean and will be re adding Japanese in a few months. I currently try to do specific days for specific languages but find myself doing a little of both a day.
I have a bit of a dilemma and I need some outside opinions.
I have the chance to take the next five weeks off of work (somewhat, they’d need help with some things maybe six days I know for sure in the next five weeks). During this time, I’ll receive a paycheck near the end of May, and I can file for unemployment benefits until I go to Colorado in mid June. I wanted to take this time initially to continue studying Spanish, work on my health, and build some good lifestyle habits.
however, I’ve been contacted by a different branch of my company on the university campus to help with dorm cleaning for the summer until I leave. All I know for now is that I’d work ten hours on Monday, from 7am to 5pm, and then I’d find out the schedule going forward. I don’t drive or have a car so I’m a little worried about traveling around campus for cleaning, especially since my friends aren’t going to be working with the dorm cleaning either.
part of me says take the break from work, enjoy life a little bit until you go to Colorado, and file for unemployment. (I’d work 40 hours a week for 8 weeks in Colorado). The other part of me says that I should keep working and make the money because it’ll be decently more then unemployment would give me. Mentally and emotionally, I am a bit burnt out from my semester of work and really do want some time off. But the financial aspect of it is what is keeping me torn.
what should I do?
Hello lovelies!
I want to get some more practice in my Spanish studying, specifically my writing and reading skills. I want to start posting some writing in Spanish on Tumblr but I'm a bit wary of doing so on my main profile because I feel like it's going to throw off the vibe and aesthetic of my blog. That being said, I am going to create a Spanish side blog! I hope you guys will give me a follow over there and help me out with my sentence structure, vocabulary, grammar, and just how I'm doing in Spanish overall!

🎀 Goals for May 🎀
Well, I'm two days *late* but it's the beginning of a new month and I figured, why not set a couple of goals for this month? My spring semester ends next Friday, the 10th, so I want to have some things to focus on for this month before I travel to Colorado in June for work <3
🩷 May Goals 🩷
have 1-3 more meeting with my italki teacher
study Spanish for some time every day
get daily movement (either 10k steps or 20+ minutes of a workout, low impact preferably [i love at home mat pilates])
read 10 pages of a book daily
keep up with my accountability buddies (if they still want to!)
maintain a consistent morning and night routine (journaling, skincare, etc)
prepare for my work trip (suitcase, plane ticket, buy my necessities, etc)
start modifying my current food intake (I don't like the word diet) due to a new health issue I discovered with my doctor
not too many goals, not too stressful. I'm going to habit track some of this as well to help keep me motivated, and hopefully continue working with my accountability buddies to keep me on track this summer! here's to another beautiful month of life 💕

Daily Check-in: April 29, 2024 🎀
Monday was such a good day, I'm so so happy with that. Work went good, my friend brought the chocolate covered strawberries I bought, I studied Spanish and did a bunch of homework. Such a good day!

11 Minute Wake Up Yoga by Yoga with Adriene
12 Minute Yoga for Brain Power by Yoga with Adriene
read a bit if "Good Vibes, Good Life"
studied Spanish (~25 minutes)
completed the last 2 assignments for medical terminology (just have the online final left!)
completed 3/4 of the extra credit surveys fir my psyc class (the 4th link wasn't working)
went to chemistry lecture
worked a ~7.5 hour shift
did minimum night skincare + showered after work
drank ~80oz of water (maybe more? I didn't keep track the best but I kept refilling my bottle before it was completely empty)
did my entire morning routine (I really enjoy my morning journaling, morning movement, making my bed, doing my skincare, all of it)
signed up for summer cleaning work for the first month before I leave to another state for work
💞 Good Things That Happened:
got the onboarding information for my work in another state for 8 weeks this summer
my co worker and I found out were going to be roommates for the summer work in another state! she's the sweetest and I'm really looking forward to hanging out with her!
recieved the chocolate covered strawberries I bought to support my friend's trip to Italy this summer (it's to help his major!) (I ended up buying more....they were so yummy)
closed my station very efficiently at work and got complimented by my supervisor on how I did
found out I passed the multiple choice part of my latest chemistry exam with a 92! just waiting on the one handwritten question to get graded!
am going to be able to pick up some extra hours this week, thankfully
💗 Stuff For Tuesday:
italki trial lesson for Spanish at 730am (I am nowhere near the level of being able to speak, but I'm hoping this Spanish teacher can help me figure out a study plan and get me to a place where I can speak!)
do my morning routine!
study Spanish after the meeting
work on chemistry homework OR my osyc homework, depends on the time and whatnot
work another ~7.5 hour shift at work
read a bit more of "Good Vibes, Good Life" during the day
have another good day <3

Day 16 - 90 Day Challenge 🎀
I was still in a lot of pain yesterday (Thursday), it was a very odd pain, but I've woken up today (Friday) and it's finally gone! I'm excited because now I can move around without that uncomfortable feeling. I still didn't do much yesterday but I figured it was worth an update, regardless. That's the point of this challenege. Accountability and consistency.
🏋♀️ Physical Health
walked to work (~20 min)
scheduled my gym times for today and next week
found out the gym hours for my campus gym for the first part of winter break so I can schedule in gym time for then too
🧠 Mental Health
made myself get up and out of bed after work to curb how I was feeling (felt kinda numb and decided I needed to do something productive about it)
❤️ Emotional Health
therapy appointment! (may have been my last one until january, thank you gobernment for ending my health insurance coverage today)
was honest with my boyfriend about how I was feeling (was super grateful with how he handled it, hes so patient and understanding and kind to me, I'm so happy with my relationship with this man. I love him, so much)
📚 Intellectual Health
completed the respiratory lab report for my Anatomy lab
made a list of things to accomplish Friday morning (at the study room I booked)
filled in my planner with the rest of the assignment I have due
🏘 Adulting
worked a ~4 hour shift (recieved an actual frozen ham as our christmas gift from work)
cooked spaghetti for dinner for myself (needed comfort food)
cleared my old food out of the fridge
got my work schedule for next week figured out (my last week of work before the break, I could cry because I'm not going to see my work bestie until probably march of next year - she's super pregnant and due in the beginning of January)
filled in my budget for November and realized I spent over my means
deleted shopping apps from my phone
made a tentative lost of some goals for 2024 (might post them! thinking of breaking it down into monthly, quarterly, and yearly stuff)
zoom called my loving boyfriend <3
🥰 Self Love/Care
full morning skincare
full night skincare (I love how my face feels and looks after I oil cleanse)
I actually did a good amount of things yesterday, surprising with how much time I spent in bed not feeling like myself. But today is going to be a good day! My goals for today are to have a decent morning routine, finish and submit my final research study paper for my psyc class, attend the make up lab session for anatomy, attend the lan session for my psyc final exam (that's on monday), go to the gym, and make it through my work shift.

can anyone recommend a good textbook for learning Spanish? I really like studying using textbooks and I have two from when I took Spanish classes but they are the most unhelpful textbooks ever and I absolutely despise using them unless I have no other choice.
preferably I’d like a textbook that focuses on grammar as vocabulary is pretty easy for me to pick up given how widely Spanish is spoken in my city.
I’m also open to any music, song, movie, book, tv show, and any other spanish language learning material! I want to be able to speak spanish with some of the people I work with and I think it’s a great and beautiful language for me to learn overall, and definitely will be the most helpful!
*I am still going to self study Japanese during my six week break from classes, but I am going to try to divide my time between spanish and Japanese with a stronger focus on spanish! May even start a six week language challenge during my break to keep me motivated and accountable!
so if you guys have any recommendations for someone learning spanish (and even Japanese) , please comment/reblog this!
thanks in advance <3
small break from my normal challenge posts to ask a question and get some feedback!
I’m going to start posting some language learning stuff and hopefully some study type content as well now that finals are coming up and during the following break I want to dive back into my language studies to keep my brain full of knowledge.
Can anyone recommend some resources and advice/tips?
I’m looking for (Mexican) Spanish learning resources, Japanese learning resources, and advice and tips on motivation to keep going with the language learning, some productivity and discipline tips, and just any advice and motivation you guys have in general? Even if it’s not language related and just school and study related, I would be so happy to hear from all of you guys!
I look forward to posting some more normal everyday content along side the study school and language stuff along with my challenge updates! I feel like I haven’t been keeping up with the normal content I want to post so I’m really looking forward to doing more of that now!
anywho, thanks in advance for the resources, advice, and tips! I appreciate all of you, lovelies 🩷🤍
Language learning is so damn attractive. Like, who wouldn't look good when they spend hours understanding a language's illogical grammar and twisted vocabulary and have mental break downs because of it?
