We need to talk more about Obi-Wan being destined for infinite sadness and having more tragedy in a week of his life than all of Shakespeare's plays, let alone his whole life. Yet remains rooted in the light side and an excellent jedi despite his flaws throughout his life

Me: The Kenobi series comes out in a month.

The well intentioned fool I roped into this conversation: Oh? That’s cool. Are you excited?

Me: Loads. He’s my favorite character in the franchise and basically all of fiction. I’ve been waiting for this show for a decade.

Them: That’s exciting for you! It makes sense to be excited. Is there anyway you’re looking forward to?

Me: Emotional devastation mostly.

Them: But with a happy ending I’m sure.

Me: Nope.

Them: But don’t you want nice things for your favorite character?

Me: Nah...I hope he’s absolutely traumatized in the series. More trauma than anyone can be expected to endure. Infinite sadness...you get it.

Them: No. I don’t think I do. I don’t think anyone does...to be clear this is your favorite character?

Me: Oh absolutely. Number 1 comfort character actually.
