I think I have a slightly different take to a lot of people but I actually like Max's attitude right now.
In normal circumstances with a straightforward race that car is not a race winning car. Does that mean he can't win in it? No, anything can happen in a race. However, he is being realistic and I actually think that is a good thing.
The car isn't fast enough and tyre deg is not where it needs to be and Red Bull need to work on that. There is no point pretending it's all great. He is staying calm and I imagine behind the scenes he is pushing hard for them to fix things. He is being a good leader.
We are only at the second race. He is doing everything he can and needs to right now which is extracting the most possible. If Red Bull manage to fix their issues or if the technical directive that is coming later in the season has an impact he needs to be as close as possible to capitalise.
I still think that if an opportunity comes up then he takes it, he is competitive and a real racer at heart. I also think its possible we will still hear him getting frustrated on the radio BUT I think he has matured and knows that right now the team needs to stay calm and make the changes necessary and they just need to get the most possible out of the weekends. In the meantime he is going to do as best he can with what he has, whether that is a podium or just within the points. A couple races do not win a championship, the year is long and anything can happen and if being calm and realistic about the situation is helping him right now then good for him. I know the fire is still there and I know if it's possible then Max will do it.
