I recommend everything but a Mac as there would be no problem on a PC to rescue your data. Macs are not made that way.

MacBook recommendations?

So after hours of talking to Apple Care (more like me sobbing and them trying to understand what I was saying) my laptop seems to have some sort of hard drive failure. It’s likely that I lost everything, including all my pictures. I won’t be able to get a new laptop for at least a week, SO if anyone has any MacBook recommendations as far as photography goes, I’d love to hear them!

And there are many men that will have no problems following these rules. But you will not even see the good guys when they stand in front of you.

I’ve been meaning to write this for a while....

Nothing has taught me more about how little men respect women’s consent than doing sex work.  I didn’t go into my line of work hating men; not by a long shot.  I was pretty scared of men, distrustful maybe.  But not angry or hateful.  And I’ve gained a lot of positivity.  Doing sex work has given me a sense of power around them that I never felt prior and probably won’t have at any job again. But the fact remains that virtually every sex worker will experience the way men push her boundaries in every way imaginable.   Most prominent to me, because of what I do and where, is how men just can’t handle the idea of not being allowed to touch me.  I work at a one-way contact club, which means I can touch my customers but they can’t touch back.  And it blows my mind how common it is for men to sneak their fingers up my thighs, open their mouths when I press myself against them, peck my shoulders or head when I’m on top of them, and on.

A lot of the time it isn’t malicious.  Often it’s not even intentional, it’s a natural reaction for a straight guy when a naked woman is on top of him to hold her.  I understand that and I give guys credit when they find it difficult but refrain from putting their hands on me and allow me to do my job without fear of being grabbed. But I make it very clear what the boundaries are.  I tell them “I need you to keep your hands right here” and place their hands on the outside of their legs.  About 50% of the time, they instantly move their hands into their lap. Like, within seconds.  Even the tiniest thing, like them sliding their pinky up and rubbing it against my thigh during a dance is a sign of them not respecting the rules of my club or my personal boundaries.  And it genuinely frightens me how common it is; how often they think that if it’s subtle or quick, it’s ok.

On Friday night I had a customer who seemed outraged at the thought that he couldn’t touch me for $5 a minute.  He kept slipping his hand up towards my waist, I kept lowering it.  He asked if it was a personal boundary, I told him it was a club rule and that I’d get in trouble if I was caught with his hands on me.  If I got close, he’d lift his finger so it brushed against me.  He said, more than once, “What if no one can see us?” or “They won’t know if they can’t see.” to which I continued to tell him I knew and that he needed stop.  Finally, we were part-way through his ~6th song when he said “The more you let me do, the more dances I’ll buy.” to which I said “Then I guess we’re done here.” and started getting dressed.  He seemed shocked that I wasn’t willing to cross my own boundaries, which I’d laid out clearly, and risk my job for him.  He acted completely at a loss, which is when I told him “You need to learn what the fuck ‘NO’ means.“. It may seem silly or petty to walk out on money because a guy is brushing his fingers against my legs, but to me it’s absolutely not.  I’ve worked at two-way contact clubs.  I don’t even mind being touched when working at a club that allows it, for the right price.  But to me, it is absolutely egregious, creepy, abusive behavior to be told by a stranger what their boundaries are and to make every possible effort to test and push them.  “NO does not mean ‘convince me’.” needs to stamped on the forehead of every sex worker, because ours is a job where our consent is inherently devalued and seen as negotiable or not worth considering at all.  And that is a reflection, not of us or the work we do, but of the way men and society as a whole sees sex workers and sees women in general.

I am not a “hot” girl. I will probably never turn you on, or take your breath away, or impress your friends with the way I look. But I can make you laugh and make you feel wanted, and sometimes I can be really fucking cute. I really wish that could be enough, just once.

Isn’t it up to me to decide if you are hot or not?

Klinefelter syndrome

So I had nothing better to do so I searched for that term and read what others have to say. I never read that much BS about that topic in the last ten years as I read here in 15 minutes. How come that so many people on here know nothing about that syndrome but claim to be experts in it? This must be an American thing as in other countries people know way more about that then I read here. So inform yourself before you post something about it. One thing that seems to be well unknown is that it's actually quite common that guys with KS have quite some body hair. Some even look like monkey's.

Your professor probably knows nothing about that as well, so just make something up.

I’m gonna be bitching a lot because the end of the semester is next month...

And my professors are tossing out research projects left and right…

So I apologize  Idon’tgiveafuck in advance… so I’ll be posting the usually crap I reblog and other exciting ifanythingexcitinghappens events that go on. And a lot of crap about my papers. FOR INSTANCE!

Tonight’s paper consists of Gender Dysphoria (Klinefelters, Turner Syndrome, other genetic disorders) and how it effects the psychosocial and psychosexual development of adolescents (12-18) and young adults (18-40).

This should be common knowledge, so why do you need our help?

Writing a research report on Klinefelter syndrome that was actually due yesterday and I have never heard of it until just now, so I’m gonna tag this and if anyone knows anything about it that I wouldn’t be able to find through google (or even better, if you or someone you know has it) please inbox me or reply to this and help me out

Sorry but your description of a Klinefelter guy is very wrong. Saying you are full of it would still be too good. Try to inform yourself before you make these wrong claims about something you don't know.

Part 3: A Bloody Gruesome Mystery Continues
Part 3: A Bloody Gruesome Mystery Continues
Part 3: A Bloody Gruesome Mystery Continues

Part 3: A bloody gruesome mystery continues

For those of you who have not been following the bloody gruesome mystery series of posts then don’t spoil it for yourself by reading on. First read the original mystery (Part 1) and the follow-up (Part 2).

For those of you have been following the blood gruesome mystery series of posts. Here is a brief recap:

Recap

The victim of the gruesome stabbing was a 28 year old male.

The blood sample collected from the knife was not from the victim.

We knew this because the nuclei of some neutrophils contained a structure called a neutrophilic drumstick.

Neutrophilic drumsticks are the product of inactivation of the second X chromosome in females (XX), this does not happen in males (XY).

So we concluded that our murderer must be female, therefore it couldn’t have been the male victim’s blood.

However, in the last post I threw you a curveball that turned the case on its head by saying that our murderer may not actually have been female after all and asked you…

Why could the murderer be male after all?

Well there are two possible scenarios:

1. The murderer was actually both male AND female (at the same time)

The number of chromatin bodies (drumsticks in neutrophils, Barr bodies in other somatic cells) seen in a cell is one less than the number of X chromosomes found in the cell. Males (XY) therefore have none. Females (XX) have one.

It is conceivable that our murderer could have been born a male (XY), and thus outwardly appear male, but had a genetic condition that caused his cells to retain one extra X chromosome (XXY). Therefore our killer could in fact be both male and female at the same time.

This is a known genetic condition, called Klinefelter’s Syndrome that arises when a non-disjunction event occurs during meiosis I of gametogenesis. Normal sperm develop having either an X or a Y chromosome in their nucleus when they divide by meiosis in the testes. If one of these sperm did not divide properly, that sperm could contain both X and Y chromosomes. If that sperm then went on to fertilize a normally developed egg, containing a single X chromosome, then the genetic make-up of the baby would be XXY. This chromosomal make-up may be present in as many as 1:500 male births (NIH, 2013).

Individuals with Klinefelter’s syndrome develop as males but may have some female sexual characteristics such as less facial/body hair, broader hips, developed breast tissue. They may be infertile or have reduced fertility and suffer from microorchidism (small testes) and hypogonadism (decreased testosterone).

Importantly for our murder case, a male with Klinefelter’s syndrome (XXY) would have neutrophils that contain one less drumstrick than the number of X chromosomes in the cell. In this case the male killer would have 1 drumstick, just like the blood of a female.

For more information about Klinefelter’s Syndrome you can visit the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

2. The murderer had a blood transfusion less than 7 hours ago

If the murderer was male, but had a whole blood transfusion using blood from a female blood donor, then it could be expected that his blood would contain neutrophils that had the female drumstick. However, given the short half-life of transfused neutrophils, our killer would have to have committed his gruesome act within 7 hours of receiving his treatment.

Thanks for playing this histological game! Well done to everyone who figured it out, I know there were many of you!

The problem here is that you throw words around that will make parents abort a pregnancy. Phenotypic male? What the hell are you trying to say? You need to speak up what you really want to say and not using such language that calls for a termination. Also all these idiots that call KS an intersex conditions are the ones that make parents abort pregnancies because no parent wants a child that isn't fully guy or girl.

XXX (Don’t worry, this is safe for work!)

So far on this blog, I have focused on autosomal trisomy disorders.  However, trisomy also can occur in sex chromosomes.

Females have two copies of the X chromosomes, while males have an X and a Y.  As you might imagine, there are quite a lot of combinations you could have with trisomy of the sex chromosomes.

1. Triple X syndrome (XXX) results in a phenotypic female

2. Klinefelter syndrome (XXY) results in a phenotypic male

3. Jacob’s syndrome (XYY) results in a phenotypic male

What I find most interesting about these disorders is that they usually are not detected until much later in life because the symptoms are relatively benign.  So it’s not surprising that most cases go undetected.

For example, the most common symptom for Triple X syndrome is a tall and lean body.  IQ is on average 10 points lower than siblings.  Ovaries are often underdeveloped, although a successful pregnancy is possible for most people affected.  Therefore, it is easy to see why this disorder is rarely diagnosed.  The following diagram illustrates some of the physical symptoms of Triple X syndrome.

I was curious as to why trisomy of the sex chromosomes is relatively benign in comparison to autosomal trisomy.  I initially found it hard to believe that a girl with three copies of X chromosomes would be barely distinguishable from a girl with the normal two copies.

It turns out I did not know much about the intricacies of the X chromosome.  In normal females, one X chromosome is inactivated.  This inactivation is initiated by a specific gene that binds to the X-inactivation center.  However, this process is not complete, as only approximately two thirds of genes are actually silenced.

It is likely that X inactivation is the reason why Triple X syndrome and other sex chromosome trisomy disorders are much less severe than autosomal trisomy.  A woman with Triple X syndrome would just have two inactivated X chromosomes.

Triple X syndrome has the potential to serve as a model for the physical and mental aspects of developmental delay.  However, more research is needed.

In one of my first blog posts, I discussed the new noninvasive test for Down syndrome and other trisomy disorders.  Now, the company that developed the test has announced that an optional test expansion can test for sex chromosome disorders as well.

Although I wholeheartedly support abortion rights, I worry that parents who receive a diagnosis of Triple X, for example, might opt for termination.  I can understand wanting to end a pregnancy that would result in a baby with severe mental and physical disabilities, as there are in Down syndrome and the other autosomal trisomy disorders.  However, sex chromosome disorders are not nearly as severe.  I fear that combining all these disorders on the same test might encourage parents to lump them in the same category of severity.

I do not think that a fetus with Triple X or similar sex chromosome disorder should be terminated.  Therefore, I think it is crucial that doctors and genetic counselors make it clear to their patients that when considering prognosis, sex chromosome disorders are not in the same category as other trisomy disorders.

The Klinefelter syndrome has nothing to do with intersex, you are just full of it and you are a baby killer.

Most of that is very wrong. From what old book did you copy that from? Actually 90% of it is wrong. I hope you don't have any degree for writing such bs in public.

Klinefelter Syndrome

Most males have the chromosomal pattern XY, but men with Klinefelter Syndrome have a slightly different one. This happens when the egg’s genetic material does not split in the right way. Someone with Klinefelter will have an extra X chromosome. Some have multiple extra chromosomes, either additional X’s or even additional Y’s.

Men with this condition have small testes and occasionally a small penis. Most are tall. During puberty, their voices will not deepen considerably and they will not grow much body hair. They might develop breasts and a curvy figure. They are not fertile, but through a very expensive process that involves searching for “normal” sperm in the testes, they might be able to have biological children.

Klinefelter Syndrome also comes with mental health issues like depression, speech disabilities, and learning disabilities. Therapy for all three is necessary, and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can also help with the man’s self-esteem and comfort in his body. If Klinefelter Syndrome is diagnosed soon enough, testosterone can be administered starting in the early stages of puberty, allowing for an almost “normal” male puberty.

Yes it isn't an intersex condition but some people don't understand that. They also don't understand that if this is said online parents will abort a pregnancy because it's called such a condition. So anyone that calls the Klinefelter syndrome an intersex condition is a baby murder.

Klinefelter's isn't an intersex condition.

Klinefelter's Isn't An Intersex Condition.

Nice try, asshole. (x)
