had another go at drawing these guys :)
btw I like speculative evolution and biology so I once tried making up a little species of guy like I've seen other artists do.. they don't have a name yet and I don't know if they make a ton of sense but I thought someone would like to see them:) they're also not very developed or anything but yeah.. if ur more experienced with this stuff lmk if there's anything that can be improved:3

i love posting a lot sporadically before disappearing again. anyways i scoured my photo library for recent sketches and things. these two are the best i drew rook so pretty (his jawline should not be that damn sharp he is a round man but we will ignore it.)
also i really like the first one it was a sketch for an assignment that i didnt end up goin with. but i might work on it at some point.,., its fun.

we have a weird crab i made, it was more alien than fantasy so i had to put it in a different world (have a more spec bio world with friends that is underdeveloped). made the crab, decided hed be in some sort of rocky tide pool environment, and then designed the mudskipper adjacent fellow, snails, and some fishes to go with him :)
very rushed assignment i finished 1 1/2 hrs before class. kinda fucked him up but its alright (did not keep his teeth consistent enough)
anyways this looks like something tumblr would like. + the sketches for creature concepts (the three i liked at least)
im probably not gonna add this exact guy to my world building project but i’ll probably refine him and add a cooler version cause hes so silly <3
alright heres my final project for my illustration class. its a character design challenge that i made into a creature design challenge because why not. also feels like one of the few things ive made i can actually label as speculative evolution, yippee!
thinking more about my alien dolphin/whales
I'm thinking that Imsee evolved from an avian ancestor, something similar between a bat and pterodactyl that then transitioned to a semi-aquatic lifestyle. (which at least to me explains their body plan) So in a way a Imsee are weird penguins that just so happen to look like dolphins. Also, they are born with coat of fur which later sheds off during adolescence, and a bit like seals/otters they have to be taught how to swim by the adults.
I've also decided that the Imsee "species" is actually made up of three different closely related squid-whale species that can all reproduce with each other. Fig. A are River Imsee they have slender bodies and longer mandibles, B. Coastal Imsee, they're the most common and historically had the largest population on their homeworld, and C. are lake Imsee, they have stockier bodies and were typically found more inland than their river counterparts and were rarer too.
In modern times, Imsee are fairly homogeneous, due to a centuries of intermingling. So as a whole, they phenotypically vary a lot.
Now there is another species which are also Imsee, D. Deep Children. These are genetically modified Imsee who are adapted to a purely aquatic lifestyle. Imsee pretty have the best biotech around, and so deep children are created from adults who undergo a sort of metamorphasis via a pool of nanobots, called the Pond of Change. Its sort of a risky procedure (mostly because it heavily modifies the brain) and has a lot of ritual involved so its not something that's done casually. Deep children are a bit like biological super computers, anything that requires a lot of math and consideration, its usually a deep child that's figuring it out.
It's almost 3 am i can't remember so many projects namees (and much of spec bio stuff i like is just earth many years from now so idk if it counts)

Angelymph- holy, glowing gas that allows angels to levitate in the air. On great heights angelymph fills entire body, making it glow like an alive star, near erath's surface special halo-shaped organs compress gas around ribs and edges of umbrellas.
Beak, no teeth, proved great method of air exchange during flight and making very wide range of sounds
Angels’ skin is very flexible, covered in soft scales and almost translucent (in areas where it’s thicker white color is visible)
Umbrellas (3x on head) are used for jellyfish-like motion while leg-wings make direction change easier
Muscle and bone tissue is blue,
Leg-wings work in way analog to bat wings, many people had mistaken them for white gown
No reproductive system and reduced pelvis (among many other bones), angels never fully stand on earth, they are delicate in struture
God’s eye, always open, the brightest element, looking at it could multiply human vision or induce hallucinations (especially among sinners)
Around 2.5 meters tall and 5 meters "wingspawn"

Falling: the only way to trully disobey God is by intentionally removing the All-Seeing Eye (works sort of like eating forbidden fruit for humanity). This gives angel (hereinafter referred to as demon) free will, but also quickly deprives angelymph, causing physicall fall.
Horns: are remains of umbrellas, soft membrane easily tears apart on surface and dies off. The same thing happens to leg-wings. This althought painfull is actually beneficial, allowing them to walk on bonetips.
Injures (marked red) never fully heal, causing neverending burning pain sensation. Most of the body tightness and hardens during healing, leaving demons small compared to their former selfs. Under 1.6 meters.
Body fluids: Abscence of angelymph is slowly replaced by normal blood , this mixed with blue organs and scales (it hardens like in exosceleton after molting) makes demon skin purplish-ash color.
Behaviour and look: Demons are way more eager to interact with humans, hence more close to reality depictions. This also caused them to adapt human clothing and fashion. Demons like modyfying their body, buying bodyparts from humans (they suprisingly match, and take demon colorations) or making metalic upgrades.

Human forms: Angels can disguise perfectly as anyone, delicate pulsating can be felt under forehead if you touch it in right spot.
Demons are easier to spot, they human skin is weirdly dead-looking and pale (compared to population, not necessarily white) And largest horn pair is not fully hidden.
Water rusałka design sketches.
Rusałka is creature from slavic folklore, with many regional variations, in general it's evil nature spirit resembling beautiful woman. Honestly idk how to clasify this because there is many sirene (bird ones) and mermaid traits ahhhhh anyway.
Basic 'ology:
Larval stage is freshwater creature, it has both gills and lungs, but can't leave water because of delicate leg structure. Preys on fish, often causing trouble to fishermans. Dangerous to anyone who fell into their domain.
After morphing they remain close to water, luring and attacking imprudent humans in tall reeds and grass, if it's tempting althoug heartless voice and upper body don't distract prey from insect part, great strenght and fast fly is more then enough to fill hunger. "Headband" is actually biological set of eyes and antennas.
Animal inspiration is a species of damselfly, Polish nomenclature name is related to ballad about nymph and betrayal so that's reason behind species. I choosed damselfly bc larvas have nicer tails.

Species Name: Pyroclan

Conversely, in states of sadness, fear, or emotional suppression, the flame diminishes in intensity or lowers.
To mitigate the potential hazards of their flame-generating abilities, particularly when interacting with off-world environments, the Pyroclan often wear specialized, heat-resistant suits. These suits serve both as a protective measure and as a means to manage their inherent fire hazard, allowing safer interaction with other species and worlds.

And also I imagine they're Planet to have thin of rings around it like Saturn.

These creatures, I don't have a name for them but I imagine them being intelligent creatures. Their sizes probably similar to a maybe Dogs And also they are specifically inspired by hyenas.And also I think the planet is similar to us but being Rocky and also having 2 sons.
