I find it hilarious when someone in the comments of an old revolutionary/protest song is like "beautiful song, we need to return to the good old days with traditional culture and values." They completely ignore the lyrics and historical context because they can't believe that some of their ancestors might actually have been pretty progressive in certain ways.
Ok no but seriously the Montreal Marxist Winter School was amazing. Go next year. Do it. https://marxist.ca/school
Love my commie boys ❤️🔥🥵🔥🚩🚩🚩
Decided my wall needed my favorite communist husbands
The Palestinian friend I am raising money for is a labor activist, it's how we met. We had already been grad students in the same department for a couple years but we never talked until our school went on strike and he recruited me to help. I've seen him do some really amazing work with his activism, both for our workplace and for other causes.
Because of this, and because pretty much every union person I know is involved in Palestine activism too, I have made a few versions of the black cat/wildcat (an old labor symbol) wearing a keffiyeh for my fundraiser. Here's my new white on black one (found here):
Stickers of the wildcat designs have been a big hit in my immediate social circle since it's such a popular symbol here. Here are my older wildcat designs, which are better for stickers (found here and here):
As usual EVERYTHING I RAISE is for my best friend to support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt by the genocide in Gaza, the attacks in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries.
You can find all my designs in my shop HERE. To see a design on different products click on the display product and scroll down or go here to browse by design. Here's a small sample of my other work:
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far! We greatly appreciate all the support.
People love to talk about how undemocratic socialism is, yet capitalism by default results in unelected oligarchs and politicians that are bought by them, so they rule both economically and politically.
As someone on this site said before, capitalism is also a planned economy but it's planned by billionaires.
I mean lets be honest, did anyone vote for Elon Musk?
PSA: If you do nothing you are helping the oppressors
Any kind of pushback is better than watching in silence but continuing life as normal. Your quite acknowledgement of the evil things happening in this country is not enough. It means nothing.
If you are aware that mega corporations are funding genocide/rolling back their dei programs/treating their workers in an unethical way/hurting the environment and are still continuing to buy from them then you are in the wrong.
You can't feign ignorance and act like your purchases won't change anything because obviously it can. Obviously boycotts work when people actually do them and stick with them.
If you absolutely have to buy something from these places it's okay. Almost everything is owned by some evil company the the goal is to atleast limit the spending. And if you continue your normal amount of spending as if you are unaware then you are the problem.
☆------------------------------
This isn't just about boycotts. This is about choosing to stay uninformed. This is about being aware of current issue around the world and within the country (ice raids, Palestine, womens rights, etc.) and not to taking the time and learn more.
Those in power want you to stay uninformed. They want you to ignore all the horrible things happening and you're doing what they want.
You can not say you care about womens issues, and not stay up to date with womens issues.
You can not say you condemn Israel's genocide of Palestinians, and not pay attention to what's happening in Palestine.
It is not acceptable to play the "I havent done my research yet" or "I havent looked into it" or "I dont know much about it right now" cards but leave it at that and not actually care to do the research.
If you are not standing up against the oppressors, you aren't sitting down, you are standing with them.
