Ok so here's the basics for my newsies Hadestown AU!! Please ask any questions you have I would love to yap more about this!

Orpheus - Jack Kelly  Both artistic, hopeless romantic young men with a desire to find/do something more. He loves hard and fast, but not easy. Wait for me is a perfect song for him, I think it really works.

Eurydice - David Jacobs  There's really no other way I would've done this, let's be real. He’s more hesitant, but has a strong mind, with doubt creeping in. He falls in love despite himself. All I've ever known would do a great job showing his journey

Hermes - Crutchie Morris   He has seen this happen before. He hates it sometimes, but he knows someone needs to tell his ‘brothers’ tale. He’s trying to let himself be optimistic, and sometimes it works…almost. But he loves Jack and David too much to let it not be told again

Persephone - Racetrack Higgins  He has long since given up being taken seriously for a little fun. He loves hard. He likes to drink and to party, it makes it all bearable. He loves his husband, but misses how he was and hates how he’s becoming. He knows how this story goes and he couldn’t care less because he knows happiness will be found again, even if sadness is found again too.

Hades - Spot Conlon  He knows he needs to give up the little things to succeed, and it’s almost a sacrifice he is willing to make. He loves hard too, in his own way. He is cold to the world, because the world was cold to him. But he is going to fix it, whatever it takes, because he knows he can do it. He loves his husband, and knows Race disapproves, and he hates it, but it is necessary. He does what is necessary. (Also Why we build the wall is so perfect for him)

The fates - I’ll be the first to admit this was a difficult decision, and so i’m going to lay out my thoughts because truth be told I have not fully decided yet. One of my first thoughts was Les, Sarah and Ester. They haunt David. I like this, but Mayer is left out and so I’m not sure it works. My other thought, which I’m leaning towards, is 3 newsies. I think this would be Buttons, Mush, and maybe Finch. These three as a whole are kinda a weird trio, I admit, but I think as a whole they would be able to function much as the Fates do. Buttons has the sewing aspect, Mush would really be able to push the story and David around as the Fates need to, and Finch has the forethought and careful consideration, but also pushiness and 'inquisition' that rounds out these three as the Fates. Katherine would also work as one of the Fates :)

anyways Jack Kelly is Mexican-American to me. It adds SO MUCH to his character and him wanting to go west (everything that's there, and then wanting to connect with his heritage) and it is very fun and interesting and i will not shut up about this
