once again calling upon my knowledge of catholicism (learnt from watching daredevil), to pray for the return of Karen Page in the next episode. amen.

i watched that part and audibly sighed with disappointment. there were so many ways they could’ve done that better. literally almost anything would’ve been better.

That whole thing with Matt feeling the painting and knowing it was Heather was just weird.

When we first saw all the drawings of Heather I gasped because I thought he wouldn't be able to tell what they were drawings of so even though the warning was right there in his hands Matt wouldn't know Heather was in danger. It felt like in horror movies where the killer is revealed to the audience but not the characters and we can only watch from the edge of our seats as the protagonists piece things together. That would have been so much better.

But no, he ran his fingers over the sketches and somehow knew it was Heather? Even if the paintings were textured, that's not how paint works. I don't know a lot about being blind, but even if Matt could tell the sketches were a face just by feeling the brushstrokes, I don't think Matt could've realized it was Heather's face specifically.

If Muse had made like. A sculpture of Heather. That would've made sense. But his other art seems pretty stylized, so even that might have been a stretch.

yes! i miss when shows would have like 20 episode long seasons. like yes, give me that overarching plot line sure, but i want to see the in between stuff! courtroom scenes, mugging stoppings, flirting the pants off of people, frivolous parkour, dinner with clients families, i want all the filler please!!!

imagine complaining about ep 5 being filler. i want 40 minutes of matt murdock having dinner with the khan's - filler is good

the new daredevil episode (7) just made me overwhelmingly sad.

He’s lying and hiding things again and it’s hurting him so much and it’s hurting heather so much and kristen and cherri too, and i’m sad about it.

i thought the scene with heather talking to him about his trauma and then them saying i love you was really sweet, and it hurts that it doesn’t feel real for him. i bet she’s going to figure it out soon though. (or die, idk)

him putting on the glasses as soon as the conversation got serious was a good nod to how he only knows how to rely on his masks.

i hope we can get a smidge of happiness in the next episode at least. don’t get me wrong i know the show is supposed to be a matt murdock whumpfest, and i love it, but i need a bit of happy or silly matt just to keep me going, ya know?

(even the shower scene, while hot asfuck, was sad. it was clearly him distracting her from the bruises so he could wait to talk about it when he wasn’t cornered)

this episode had everything I love. matt being competent. using people's perceptions of him to his advantage. being a little shit. thigh murder incapacitation. secret skills. accent shenanigans. gratuitous cameos. no wilson fisk.

this is so true! i also think it was really hard for frank to see matt like that. like his fire had gone out. he does have respect for daredevil, and seeing him so broken must have been so disconcerting.

even saying all the terrible pointed things he said, you could see how wounded frank was.

No but the way Frank didn’t want Matt to leave, thinking of sth new to say every time he turned to walk out and then looking empty af once Matt actually left??? Frank‘s so damn lonely, sitting in that dark basement surrounded by only guns, hit maps and the memories of his family. 😭

matt acting like everything is fine and he’s moved on with his life

okay, i’ve rewatched episode one and i thought the bullseye fight was actually pretty good this time.

Matt listening to foggy and karen down on the street was good and karen being terrified to look at who fell off the roof was very well done.

i think i was just caught off guard by my expectations for it to be more like the netflix show, which isn’t entirely fair

daredevil has been a obsession for me for so many years and i’ve gotta give the new series more grace

DDBA SPOILERS!!! (episodes 1-2)

okay i have thoughts and none of them are in order and some aren’t very developed, but here they are so far:

-to start off positive, i like how matt’s blindness is being portrayed, maybe more than in the original. it shows how he is in fact visually impaired and that when he focuses on other things specifically he is affected by his blindness. (for example: episode 2 when he’s focusing on footsteps and almost gets hit by a cab)

-right off the bat, i knew we weren’t gonna get what we had in the original series. the opening shots and dialogue were too bright and clinical in my opinion, as is pretty common with disney.

-the fight with bullseye was not great. it fell pretty flat in my opinion, the way it was shot and played out was not very dynamic or intense. since it was the opening and set up a lot of things to come, it should’ve been more gripping. foggy’s death was not as heartbreaking as it should’ve been and matt trying to kill dex should’ve been a more intense shot.

-while the actors did an amazing job imo, the way it’s being filmed just lacks the grit and depth of the original series.

-that being said; matt crying on the roof did have me crying too, charlie cox is such an incredibly talented actor and even despite the flaws that opening scene had, he managed to pull me in and get me to care.

-there are moments and choices being made that i do like, and i’m sure i’ll enjoy the show even with the disappointing parts

-matt being framed in red light at the end of the first episode and the fight at the end of episode two that resulted with his daredevil yell were the most dynamic and classically daredevil moments and they give me hope

-also i was almost unable to pay attention to a single second of it because of how absolutely soulcrushingly and devastatingly attractive matt murdock is. it’s actually ridiculous.

*TLDR: i found the first two episodes of born again to be disappointing and not living up to the standards that we have come to know and love from daredevil. that being said; through the amazing acting from charlie cox and the maintaining of matt murdock’s character, as well as some promising new characters and arcs, i’m sure it still will be an enjoyable watch.
