The final test

The trainee drone had a feeling this was an important dive. He had been sent out to one of the deeper sections of the training ground together with the most senior alpha drone.

An alpha drone is not a controller, but they are permitted some autonomy. One of the priveleges of the rank is that they are allowed to choose which of the trainee drones they would like to take to examine during the drone’s final assessment.

Oxygen levels in RS82’s breathing gas were gradually increased as the drone ascended to aid decompression.

Finally the drone surfaced, his equipment slowly removed.

RS82 held his head in his rubber gloves, he felt exhausted, spent, but so happy and proud to join the collective.
