Something I like about Dr Stone is that it gives all the main cast something they’re good at and let’s them be weird about it. Like, idk, when we learn about Yuzuriha’s love of crafting I was kinda worried it wouldn’t amount to much, especially since we don’t see her and Taiju for most of season 1, but then we get to seasons 2 and 3 and it’s like no, actually, she’s using her skills to piece bodies back together. She can make 20 shirts in five seconds. When she’s in the zone she’s so intense it genuinely freaks out some of the villagers. Or Ryusui’s abilities as a sailor/captain. He’s crazy good at reading wind patterns to the point that he’s able to just get in the hot air balloon and wing it despite specialising in ships. He got them through a storm by yeeting his hat and following it up. His only fault is being a capitalist

While I'm very opiniated about shipping, I think it's important to take a step back and realize that dungeon meshi isn't a romance story. I think some relationships are purposely kept vague because dungeon meshi is a celebration of love in all its forms. Platonic love, familial love, romantic love and anything in between. Laios, marcille, falin, chilchuck, kabru, toshiro, senshi, izutsumi, and many more, no matter how you choose to interpret it, there's undeniable love that connect them all. And those who love each other eat together. Food and love are what brings people together and that's why the Manga end with all of the characters sharing a meal. Dungeon meshi is a story about a small group of people who, through building connections, rallied a whole village into saving one woman they care about.

I made a post a while back about a no-petrification world where Senku and Yuzuriha are both famous and known for their respective successes while Taiju is a happy stay-at-home dad but I just realized there’s so much comedic potential in the trio’s friendship not being widely known by the general public.

Professor Ishigami is always wearing the nicest suits from the Haute Couture Yuzuriha brand and everyone thinks it’s just because he has expensive tastes but then someone spots him chatting with the millionaire CEO herself in the university parking lot and she HUGS HIM GOODBYE and they’re like ???!?!?

Yuzuriha’s employees think she’s the sweetest person ever and she has tons of pictures of her husband and kids on her desk like any family oriented person but then her new assistant takes a peek and realizes that there’s a Nobel prize winning astrophysicist just. Hanging out in the photos also.

Taiju is a beloved member of his kids’ school PTA and some random mean mom at the bake sale tries to make a comment about how it isn’t becoming for a man to take care of the house and there’s no way they can pull off what they promised, only for the foremost leading scientist in JAXA and the eleventh richest woman in the region to stroll in like they own the place with the kids between them carefully carrying the most beautiful goddamn cupcake tower mankind has ever known.

I would love to see a fantasy novel where the lore that the reader / protagonist learns at first is not true

I love when Mingi embarrasses the fuck out of Yunho with his ungovernable sincerity. My favorite Yunho response to Mingi is when he gives that high-pitched laugh and raises his arms like "what am I supposed to do with this?!"
