Okay but concept based on john being kinda the new tony stark (shipped with everyone and their mother)

john "living PR crisis" walker constantly convincing the public that he is dating each of his teammates:

It starts when the New Avengerz have like a really bad mission. A publicly bad mission. And they are trying to do damage control at a press conference. One of the more conservative-leaning reporters (who all only address their questions to John and maybe sometimes Bucky) starts asking questions like, "what has it been like going from being led by very decorated men in the military to being an Avenger under the leadership of Ms. Belova?" (basically implying Yelena is a bad leader because she is a woman). And John is. Just so tired and his body hurts and he is tired of being some weird pedestal for these annoying misogynistic racist people. So he just loses it. Starts ranting about how Yelena is the best leader he has ever had and that he would "follow her to hell and back without question you fucking losers."

And the press doesn't understand that John at his core really is that loyal when he trusts someone (and he has trusted Yelena since they got out of the vault together). So OF COURSE the press assumes that they are sleeping together.

None of the thunderbolts take it seriously--it's just some stupid gossip that will eventually pass on. (But Yelena does give John a hug when no one is around to thank him for supporting her).

Except.

It keeps happening.

Ava has a bad day spiraling about her childhood growing up in labs and John invites her to come with him during his visitation with his son. They all spend the day under the sun running around playing games before getting ice cream. The next day, the headlines read, "Current Avengers, John Walker and Ava Starr: Relationship Timeline (co-parenting?)."

And then, Bucky gets thrown into a wall during a mission, and John just freaks out, eyes glassy, and starts frantically petting him, making sure that he was okay. Someone takes a photo of John holding Bucky's face in his hands, looking terrified.

After that, during one of those PR "friendship test videos" (that all of them hate but Val forces them to do) Alexei and John are paired together and one of the questions is what is the other person's favorite food. And John's answer is not only right, but like insanely specific, i.e., the borscht from this shop in this random street in St. Petersburg, outside of which Alexei had his first kiss. Alexei talks alot, okay-and John had unfortunately asked what everyone's favorite food was as the resident cook and was plagued with a good enough memory even without the serum to remember every. single. word. Alexei said. (When this inevitably blows up, Yelena immediately makes fun of John for being such a whore that he goes for two generations in the same family).

Eventually, the press also start asking questions about who this random dude living with the team in the Avengerz tower is and John just immediately panics and say "he's my....guy?" (he had a blond moment and couldn't think of anything fast enough).

Bonus: John's old tweets resurface and it's just. Him fighting people on main during the height of civil war on how Sam Wilson is a great Avenger (He can fucking fly??) and just generally being kind of lowkey obsessed with Falcon (like c'mon Sam did some crazy missions for the military as Falcon, there were probably tons of military people who were kind of obsessed with him). And the public are just like...oop Captain America totally rejected Walker's ass lmao

Bucky having unapologetic beef with John, out in public to the point of it being borderline bullying is actually my favourite thing in the world

Imagine the Avengers have a shared album. It was an album that they all made so they can update on what they’re doing and it was all Peter’s suggestion so the team could bond more. Yet Peter changes it up one day by dumping pics of the Avengers from afar and they’re all looking up, wondering where the fuck is Peter taking the photos from.

Then Peter dumps 0.5 pics of Tony when he was sleeping or Tony simply allowed it because he was tired to say anything and it was the most ridiculously outrageous photos of Tony that Tony is immediately up from his chair in the lab and finding Peter, yelling about him deleting the photos.

Peter only does it when Tony hasn’t eaten a full meal or anything in a day or has not slept at all since he was busy overworking himself. And it always works.

Soon, the shared album that was previously about updates became a place to dump the most ridiculous photos of the Avengers or the shenanigans they do that it would be a PR nightmare for their PR team to manage(SHIELD is definitely their PR team even though Nick Fury is not paid enough for it)

Clint, dumping photos of Bucky and Steve on the couch together: *captioned ‘Look at this lovebirds!’*

Bucky checks his phone and is immediately showing Steve and the two glare at the vent at the left corner of the room where they hear distant giggles as Clint crawls away

Peter sending a photo of Tony and Stephen making out in the kitchen: *captioned ‘EW MR STARK GET A ROOM!’*

Tony pauses and pulls away from Stephen who frowns when he pulls his phone out. Tony gasped in horror and showed the phone to Stephen before spotting his son and immediately charging at him (“Peter Benjamin Parker-Stark, you get your tiny ass here right now!”) Stephen sighs and sends the cloak after his lover and son. Cloak wraps around Peter who screams for mercy and Tony grinned

Bruce sending a picture of Sam drinking a Caprisun: *Captioned ‘Peter I think that’s yours..’*

Peter suddenly appears and tackles Sam, screaming that it was his last one and the man now owns him a box. Sam is screaming back, saying ‘Get Stark to buy that, he has money!’ and the two is fighting till Steve pulls them apart

Natasha sends a photo of Clint surrounded by fire as he burns down their kitchen for the fifth time this month: *captioned ‘Guys he’s at it again’*

Tony immediately presses a button that shoots out foam that extinguishes the fire from the ceiling, covering Natasha and Clint in it. Natasha is fuming and Tony just realised he’s mistake and locked down his lab.

Rhodey sends a picture of Tony partying in his suit during that one party he did when he was dying. Tony is embarrassed of how idiotic he was. Peter is cackling before he’s immediately silenced by a glare from the older man

Tony starts to mess with Steve one day after he finds records of him in the past when he went through his father’s things. Tony sends a photo of Steve pre-super serum that he happened to find and Steve rolls his eyes and groans when Bucky laughs at him, making fun of the blonde (“The dwarf who was like ‘I can do this all day’ with a bleeding nose, HAH!”) The rest of the Avengers laugh, snicker or is genuinely surprised how skinny Steve actually was

Tony uploads a black and white video of Steve in the army in the past, seemingly forming a plan before the camera cuts to Bucky’s photo in a pocket watch as Steve checks the time. He quickly shuts the pocket watch and hides it. Bucky is slightly flustered and Steve is embarrassed. (“Tony where the hell are you getting this!”)

I can picture Peter and Wanda sending edits of the Avengers they found on Tiktok to the album or videos they found online of the Avengers epic fails. Since they’re probably the only two who has Tiktok or scroll through social media and definitely wanted the Avengers to see this. Or simply any news that they find hilarious or the Avengers needed to know. Tony joins on the news because Friday always updates him

Wanda sending an edit of Natasha on TikTok: *Captioned ‘Look at this hot momma!’

Natasha is flattered, chuckling as she rewatches the edit and wondering where people got this clips from.

Peter sends a video titled ‘The Avengers Fails!’ which show Tony being thrown back to a signboard, Steve falling from a building with a yell, Thor being thrown back to the hulk which the hulk is angered by and he’s thrown again at a billboard, Wanda tripping over a step, Clint being dragged along in the air at the back of the Quinjet screaming, Bucky’s arm being thrown in Tony’s face, Rhodey and Tony crashing into each other, Stephen accidentally letting out an ancient monster and desperately trying to close it back up and finally Natasha’s gun being slapped away by a giant when she shoots it. The Avengers are immediately embarrassed and Friday plays the video to get their egos in check once a month. Peter has multiple compilations of fails online so he isn’t embarrassed. He believes it’s part of his spidey persona so he embraces it with open arms. The Avengers find it impossible to embarrass him when he’s Spiderman.

Tony sends an online magazine, specifically one page where it’s all about Steve. And his magnificent ‘America’s Ass’. Steve sighs and knows Tony has something to do with the magazine when he actually doesn’t. Bucky secretly downloads the page

This is just to reiterate, his shield is not vibranium. It is just a metal disc that you can see him wind up his whole arm and shoulder to launch as hard as possible. When you see Sam or Steve throw the official shield it’s so much easier to flick out, not much power required. John’s launching what is essentially a manhole cover at people with super soldier strength.

There are so many Peter Parker headcanons that I think is so adorable that the entire fandom (mostly mcu but also comics) just came together to unanimously agree on

For example Peter being a stress Baker??? Where did that come from? Not that I'm complaining because I can totally see him making cupcakes while crying at like midnight but what in the movies gave us this idea???

Or the fact that people took the traits of actual spiders and just slapped them on him

Like YES he does get cold easily and he can't regulate his body temperature normally, yes he does have venom glands, yes he does make web nests, yes he does have blue blood like a little freakish creature.

And god DAMN do I live for lab days, yes he DOES bond with Tony in the lab after school, and yes Tony DOES call him "his kid"

And you better BELIEVE he goes on field trips to Stark tower only to get embarrassed by all the Avengers talking about how "sweet and funny" he is

i love AUs where the avengers find out something batshit insane about peters past. they'll be having dinner, all having a good time, when suddenly they get jumpscared by shit like this

steve : "so, kid. what's with the webs? do you have any other weapons, or is that it?"

peter : "well, I know how to use a staff pretty well because I used to want to be donatello from teenage mutant ninja turtles, I'm learning how to use a bow, and I don't like using guns."

psa just because i am in love with john walker does not and never will mean that i think he's a better captain america than my beloved sam wilson

yeah i'll post it, why not. bucky is a former human weapon literally programmed to obey, john is a former human weapon covertly brainwashed throughout his entire life to obey. it makes for good, tragic cinema to watch a good man be tortured into becoming someone else entirely, but there's something a lot more strikingly, quietly visceral about a little boy being raised on carefully crafted propaganda until he's willing to lay his life down for a death machine that he idolizes as the greatest nation on earth.

and then to have bucky assume a position of authority over john....that's just such a delicious concept to me. because at this point, bucky has regained autonomy over his life, but john has not, because his brainwashing runs deeper. because he was born into it. i just want bucky to see that, and both acknowledge it for the tragedy it is, while also taking advantage of that forced submission instinct to follow orders from the sergeant. i just want bucky to see that there's nothing he can do for john, other than reinforce that false idol, pet his head and say good soldier, good soldier, all the while disgusted with himself for feeding that cult programming.

it’s gross that every aroace character’s identity is seen as a threat to fandom… that it becomes a battle of semantics and excuses to find ways to ignore it… maybe think about why a character not feeling romantic or sexual attraction (and possibly not being interested in those relationship/partnering) is so scary to you… why it threatens your enjoyment of media/fandom…

i could see the thunderbolts having a gold star reward system for funsies🌟 I bet they'd be super competitive and petty 😆

What hits hard about John is that as an army veteran with severe PTSD, he has developed paranoia which also made him impatient and impulsive. He was not rewarded those three badges of excellence solely for being "a perfect soldier", but for rushing to complete the mission, putting his life on the line to save his comrades. Everyone will nag at him for being judgemental of them, but when it comes to predictions, he is often right. People also call him selfish prick, but he still does not hesitate to take a bullet for those whom he barely knows, you can claim that is a code of comradery but who will save someone that constantly speaks ill of you? John proves he is selfless time and time again, and perhaps the easiest to switch from being bitter to friendly in a short period of time. He spends a while with people, and when he ensures they are trustworthy, he will open up to them and embraces them.

If anything, his way of reacting to events is not exaggerated or fake. It is justified if one is willing to understand how rough his journey has been.

I could have been angry at Yelena the last time she bashes John, but it came off as a natural emotional response as she was frustrated at everyone and everything. The rest of the movie is filled with moments where people view him as someone lesser, a ridiculous loser. How ludicrous is that when people speak lightly of his accomplishments and scold him for killing "an innocent", coming from two former assassins who actually killed innocents for money? Or the time Bucky mentions how Olivia left John with their child, loudly for everyone to hear that? It is as if only John needs to remember his worst failures and be publicly shamed. John, the lord knows why, never really beefs with Bucky. In fact, John feels a mysterious intimacy with Bucky that feels weird yet speaks volumes on depth of John's character. He may be skeptical but not petty.

These issues in movie make every single heroic scene of John more impactful. Because it shows you no matter what everyone throws at him, or how awful his day is, he still continues to live to standards he set for himself the day he came to know Steve Rogers, and convinces himself it does worth it at last. Even if the whole world is against him, he does only try his best to save it, he may be irritated at people, but he knows the values a true hero would always and forever respect.

Sorry, but i cannot stop talking about John Walker. He really is the greatest MCU character at the moment, in my honest opinion.
