Fotografías de Julieta Venegas y Rita Guerrero, tomadas por Yvonne Venegas, fotógrafa, maestra en Bellas Artes y hermana gemela de Julieta; y diseño editorial de la revista 'La mosca pegada en la pared' número 19 (1997).

Formalmente, la historia de esta publicación especializada en el rock se remonta a 1992. Sin embargo, sus fundadores, Hugo García Michel y Jaime Flores, maquetaron la idea desde mediados de los 70. Como era de esperarse, La mosca en la pared no fue el nombre original del proyecto. Se tenían contemplados títulos como El Erizo y Óxido Nitroso.

Fue hasta 1993 que lograron conformar un equipo editorial. Era pequeño. A la cabeza de la información se encontraba Ricardo Bravo. El puesto de coordinación editorial lo ocupaba Karem Martínez. Y, finalmente, como líder de redacción destacamos a Fernando Rivera Calderón, a quien también se atribuye el nombre de la revista.

(...) Otro de los rasgos que hacían de La mosca en la pared una revista tan atractiva era su sección de reportajes y crítica de cine. Todos los contenidos estaban curados con un humor muy particular.

Una de las grandes apuestas de esta publicación fue visibilizar la trayectoria musical de mujeres. Por ello, La mosca en la pared dedicó números enteros y fotos a Rita Guerrero, Julieta Venegas y Ultrasónicas.

Comenzó a circular en 1994 de manera mensual y tuvo una breve pausa. Regresó en 1996. En sus primeros años, su precio osciló entre los $8 y $10. En 1998 subió a $12 y se mantuvo a flote hasta 2008.

Para celebrar los frutos que Julieta Venegas y Rita Guerrero cosechaban por separado, La mosca en la pared decidió poner sus fotos en portada. Dicha edición es una de las más recordadas. Estuvo dedicada al rock gótico.

Además de las vampíricas fotos de Rita Guerrero y Julieta Venegas, el periodista encargado de la charla, Hugo García Michel, les preguntó sobre la literatura gótica. Por supuesto, ambas dijeron haber leído Carmilla, novela de Sheridan Le Fanu. Asimismo, García Michel les preguntó cómo se percibían a sí mismas en la escena del rock mexicano, a lo que la grandiosa Rita Guerrero respondió:

«Pienso que las mujeres tenemos mucho mejor puestos los pantalones que los hombres. Y a estos los veo como espectadores. Como que no saben de qué manera actuar ante nuestra fuerza».
