goal: write without stopping for 10 minutes world: Atelis
Cori ran through the hall, ignoring his father's shout behind him, and sprinted towards the front door. Surely he had misheard or not understood. Memories flashed through his mind, each tender spent with Geod slipping through his fingers as sand on the shore. Without thinking, he shifted. Leaping into the air, Cori landed on his paws with his tail swishing to keep his balance. The front door was being slowly closed by a servant, but he managed to skirt through the servant's feet. She shrieked but Cori kept running.
He had to catch Geod. How could he leave without saying goodbye? Surely Geod wouldn't leave him, not without saying anything. Cori's heart beat rapidly in his chest, his eyes stinging with tears even though he knew they wouldn't fall in this form. His paws slapped against the paved ground as he took off down the driveway.
There. Just in view, Cori could see the large figure of Geod slowly walking into the countryside, a small pack in his hand. Cori yipped and ran faster, tripping over his paws as he tried to catch up. He must have made enough noise, however, because Geod paused and his ear twitched.
Cori shifted again, stumbling as he adjusted from running with four feet to two. "Geod! Geod, wait!"
Geod hadn't moved, and the closer Cori got, the more he could see the sadness etched in his face. Cori inhaled sharply before skidding to a stop. Gasping for breath, he leaned over and tried to slow his breathing.
"You--you were going to leave," he gasped, tears finally spilling out of his eyes. "Father said--said you--Geod, you can't--"
Large arms wrapped around him and Cori clung to Geod's shirt, loud sobs finally escaping him. He always wondered when his father would snap. His father threatened more than he did anything else, and Cori knew it was only a matter of time until the other shoe dropped. But on Geod? His Geod? His world was crumbling underneath him.
"What am I supposed to do without you?" he sobbed.
Geod gently patted his back, rubbing in a circular motion. "The same thing you did with me," he said slowly. "I think we both knew this wouldn't last forever."
Cori only shook his head. Maybe if he refused the truth, it would disappear. "I--I can convince him! Just come back, please. I can get--get him to take you back, and--"
Stepping back, Geod placed his large hands on Cori's shoulders. He smiled sadly. "No, Zen. Nothing you say will change his mind."
And wasn't that the horrible truth of it all? With all his power and influence, it didn't matter under the thumb of Cori's father.
I watch where the moon soars across the sky and kiss the trails it leaves behind.
thoughts on watching

Honourable mention
let’s try the tumblr thing
I have finally read and watched through the Hunger Games (and am currently reading Ballad) so here are some of my thoughts because this series has me in a chokehold:
had never heard how detailed the PTSD is in this series??? the amount of description and panic written into not only what Katniss is feeling but also what Peeta and other background characters are feeling is incredible. we need more PTSD representation in literature, but this was a perfect way to do it
Finnick. like hands down one of the best characters in the series and then him just dying I am unwell
on the same topic of favorite characters, Haymitch. no, I haven't read Sunrise yet (and I'm terrified) but man. I love how the books have Katniss's snarky opinion of him at first, but the movies show how genuinely concerned he was for both her and Peeta. Best man, I will never turn down a father/daughter duo
Katniss's mother. I will go on a whole rant about her because she's so fascinating to me.
Katniss not being the actual rebel leader, rather just a girl being dragged along in something she can't control
the similarities between the Capital and 12 - they are the same in a way: both using Katniss to achieve their political goals
the amount of despair in Prim's death, knowing from the very beginning it didn't matter. she was always going to die, and Katniss wasn't able to save her. The reality of war is heavy
the worldbuilding: from the districts to the mutts, I love how subtle and yet how crucial everything is. just enough detail to satisfy, but just enough room to expound upon
Katniss.
Peeta.
the fact that, just like the actual Hunger Games, the Hunger Games series was simplified to a love triangle and not the political commentary that it was meant to be. the fact that the Hunger Games are happening now, in our own country, and only we can decide how we will face it
Collins knows what she's doing and I wish I could be half the author she is

Worldbuilding has my brain ping-ponging around with ideas. I've gone from space pirates, to monarchies, to fleet creation. 14-year-old me would be so proud.
I need more superhero stories. Give me original superhero content that gives the vibes of Spiderman. Give me political commentary and the effects of superheroes on society. Give me hidden identities and high stakes. Give me characters with trauma. Give me complicated villains who have morals and genuinely think they're right. Give me heroes who have moral crises and have to determine where the stand in the world. Give me a classic villain vs. hero fight. GIVE MORE SUPERHEROES.
Derivakat's music has only gone up in quality since the dsmp days and I wish people recognized her more than just "white streak in my hair now" (as fantastic as that song is). Here are some of my favorite tracks rn:
Castaway - space vibes, introspective but intense, perfect for a main character
Yru - intense orchestral, beautiful lyrics, reaching for something more, longing for someone, crank-it and scream-it music
Fall - doomed lovers, that intense longing, like a clock as fate ticks down
Boom - giving Jinx (Arcane), great for fast-paced scenes, definitely would make a sick fight scene, back beat slaps
Reign - villain arc, gaslight gatekeep girlboss time
Her recent stuff has screamed ꜱᴘᴀᴄᴇ and I will get people to see it.
Here’s one of the alphabets I created for my sci-fi/fantasy world of Atelis.
This is the Core Language used by the four Core planets of the Raylosian Warrior Order (RWO). I based it off of several little symbols I’ve used for years. The first one was the “e” based off the family crest idea I had for my main character, Aisne Etorna. Because I hate the design (lol), I’ve scrapped it, but decided to flip it on its side to keep the idea there. The vibe is based of the A symbol I have for “Atelis.”
As this is the main language for the RWO, I wrote out the motto and the creed for the organization:
"The Raylosian Warrior Order" "Motto: On the authority of the great creator Raylos, the Raylosian Warrior Order protects and contains Crux Asteria’s magic in the pursuit of peace, knowledge, and freedom."
"Magic at our Core, Courage in our Hearts"
I had a lot of fun with this and ended up creating a second alphabet for the Cloranus Empire. I definitely might make more, but I at least wanted an alphabet! Worldbuilding is so much fun :)
(also if I made a couple mistakes, no I didn't lol)
