Just had a thought...the Avengers worked, before the band split, as a private police force, yes? So when Wanda sent BombRumlow at the building in Lagos and several innocent people died, its considered akin to that of police accidentally harming civilians during an op, yes?

Well, in Australia cops typically will undergo interviews and psychological evaluations and be placed on paid leave while the situation is investigated. So Wanda’s Visa being up in the air and people umming and ahhing about her place and Tony keeping her in the Compound (because people legit wanted her head on a platter) makes FUCKING SENSE!

The moment when Steve Rogers thought he knew better than his team if he could do something, so he didn’t ask them.

You know, when it comes to Tony being accused of keeping secrets and “not telling the team about his secret project” in AoU, a lot of people immediately brings up the fact that Steve didn’t tell Tony about his parents as an explanation that Steve fucked up too or fucked up more than Tony, and it is fine, but I think there was one instance in AoU alone when Steve did something worse than Tony.

Let me explain.

Ok, so Tony wants to make Ultron, yes? And he looped in Bruce. A lot of people think he looped him in, because they’re besties or assume that Tony did that with an ulterior motive of talking Bruce into agreeing with him, but you know what I see? Tony, even after his Wanda-induced vision, making a choice to loop in someone whom he trusts to not approve of something which is utterly wrong, reckless and possibly dangerous. Bruce is not some whimsy, who got talked into doing something bad, no matter how much he tries to act like it in the movie (I hate you Joss Whedon for making him act like this). Bruce is a person who messed with stuff he shouldn’t before, and he knows the consequences of that. He is probably the only person who would say a harsh no to Tony if he truly didn’t consider Ultron to be a good idea at all. Tony went to the scientist to get an ok. He didn’t go to the team, because frankly the team is not full of experts in science or AIs specifically, and they got permission from Thor to study the Scepter, and he didn’t object to them using the knowledge they gain in their own projects, so they were in the clear all along. So yeah, Tony didn’t need to tell the team, because he already told the most qualified person about it, and got his blessing to proceed with it.

Steve, on the other hand? He didn’t tell the team that he will bring Wanda and Pietro to the lab. He didn’t consult with anybody else, only trusting his own judgement, because he saw them helping him stop the train, and that made him believe they’re ok.

He couldn’t possibly know that they truly defected, or they just helped him to gain his trust. He just took them into the lab as if they were not Hydra operatives hell-bend on killing the team. He didn’t make a decision which only he was qualified for, because despite the fact he was there when they saved the train, making a judgement like that is not something the rest of the team is not qualified for.

He should have consulted his choice with others beforehand, he should have talked to Tony as it is his lab and his place he brought enemies to. He should talk with Bruce, if not to ask him for insight, then to at least ensure that he would not Hulk out when he sees Wanda. He should have talked to Natasha and Clint, hell to the whole team, because he was the only one who saw the twins doing something good (which also makes him qualified and unqualified to make that judgement, because he could trust his eyes instead of his instincts, Natasha is better for that, than him), and he didn’t have all the info, he couldn’t know if they’re not lying. So with his choice to bring them in, he endangered the whole team and possibly the whole world if the twins were truly lying and killed them all then and there.

I don’t say he shouldn’t give the twins a chance at least, but he should have talked with the team first before he allowed them inside just on the off chance that their heroic moment didn’t make them “the good guys” and was just a once in a lifetime thing which didn’t extend to their stance on the Avengers. They could still want to kill them all, even after helping save the civilians. Saving them doesn’t mean they don’t hate the Avengers or Tony specifically anymore.

[I dunno where the fandom takes the idea from that Steve threw the shield at Tony, while he threw it at the electonics around the cradle, but I remember finding a similar scene in which Steve was holding his shield in his hands when he threw himself at Tony, so maybe there are like several scenes online, or maybe we all are remembering this scene wrong? Anyway, Steve did aim his punch at Tony’s chest. His vulnerable area. Yeah, Tony repulsed him earlier and unibeamed him on low settings when the punch was incoming, but as far as Tony was concerned, Steve brought enemy agents in, and could as well be mind controled by them to do their bidding. He had to stop him.]

Not only that, but he also threw himself with a punch at Tony, when Tony was not wearing his armor and was only saved, because the chest piece came in time to take the punch! He could have killed him or injure him! He doesn’t know how much Tony’s chest can take, he could break his sternum! From the outside perspective, it looks as if he was betraying the team by not telling them about his choice.

He didn’t ask anybody for permission. He just did it.

So I go into the “Tony Stark Defense Squad” tag looking for some good “Tony Stark Defense Squad” posts, and I come out with anti-Tony’s running around about the “evil Tony Stark solely creating Ultron and the poor, sweet, innocent Wanda being blamed for doing nothing wrong.”

Here’s the thing that anti-Tony people absolutely refuse to acknowledge:

There is a massive difference between what Ultron was originally supposed to be and what Ultron became.

I think you’re a fool if you think Tony should have acted rationally after finding out his parents were murdered, watch said murder, have the killer right there and have your “ I don’t like when my teammates hide things from me” teammate right there who had known this entire time, never saying anything.

No one would be thinking rationally in that moment .

kayytx:

jess-b-thot:

steve: tony, i’m gonna need you to focus-

tony: and i needed you.

this one single exchange in endgame is literally everything.

tony saw this coming. he warned the team that another alien threat was imminent. inevitable. but they all dismissed him - steve dismissed him.

the team didn’t think they needed to be prepared or have preventative measures in place; they’ll fight threats as they come and they’ll do it together. tony had warned them that that wasn’t enough; that they would lose. and steve was okay with that; “we will lose together.”

tony said he wanted to end the fight so that they could all go home and steve said that every time someone tries to stop a war before it starts innocent people die.

and then, the avengers were divided. steve left and so did the rest. they were no longer together like steve promised tony they would be.

tony was left all alone.

only tony remained an official avenger.

only tony took the responsibility and weight of the entire world on his shoulders.

only tony was desperately preparing for a war that he alone knew was coming.

and then the war came, just as he predicted.

and they lost, just as he said.

but were they together?

no.

tony lost alone.

on an alien planet billions of miles away from earth - away from the team, away from steve - tony watched helplessly as his son-figure, a wizard, and the guardians all turned to dust around him, leaving him alone with a blue alien stranger.

and with zero promise of rescue, tony had accepted that his resting place would be amongst the stars. he closed his eyes and he was finally ready to rest.

but fate had other plans for him.

he’s not allowed to rest; not yet.

and so tony is brought home. reunited with the team who left him.

and here is steve, the man who once told tony that he was okay with losing, now refusing to accept that he lost.

for years, tony had said they needed a plan, but now, after they’ve already lost, is when steve wants to use it.

now is when steve needs tony to focus. now is when steve needs tony to come up with a plan. now, not before. now, after the work is already done.

now is too fucking late.

“tony i need you” “and i needed you”

that’s exactly the thing, and tony pointed it out.

“they do their best work after the fact.” steve only ever looked back, after something has already happened. he did the work of an a-venger. tony was looking forward. he saw what was coming and wanted to stop it before it was too late. he was doing the work of a pre-venger.

that’s the fundamental difference between the two of them.

Wanda stans don't have the common sense on whom to blame; the one who USED the weapons that killed her family, or one who created those weapons.

Like, I have been noticing them saying that Tony was at fault, and he killed Wanda's parents. One question, it looks like they haven't watched the previous movies yet. So if I ask them, was he there on the spot itself? Did he drop that weapon specially in their house? Did they even realise which timeline they're talking about? When Tony didn't knew his weapons were causing destruction.

Because Tony was under the influence of Obaidiah Stane. The one who made him create the weapons and sooner distributed them to the terrorist organisations.

In IM1, after getting kidnapped in Afghanistan, he openly announced that he was shutting down his weapons company the moment he saw his own weapons back there;

"I saw young Americans killed by the very weapons I created to defend them and protect them. And I saw that I had become part of a system that is comfortable with zero accountability."

I had my eyes opened. I came to realize that I have more to offer this world than just making things that blow up. And that is why, effective immediately, I am shutting down the weapons manufacturing division of Stark International until such a time as I can decide what the future of the company will be.

What direction it should take, one that I'm comfortable with and is consistent with the highest good for this country, as well."

So, it just creates an irony why they still call Tony a murderer for Wanda's parents. Fine, it's traumatic, but at least I wouldn't blame the company but the one who used the weapons.

You said everything perfectly Tony isn’t the one who killed Wanda’s parents and I’m pretty sure that when her parents died he just barely got the company! I don’t know why they made this a thing in AOU it just seems unnecessary why not just have a random bomb kill her parents or something there was a lot of waysage of Ultron could of gone to make it better!

Tony Anti: Tony should’ve understood that Bucky isn’t in control

Me: Tony didn’t get aggressive bcz of Bucky. He got angry when he found out someone he trusted with his life has been lying to him for the past two years about his parents’ death just so that Tony could keep funding his project. The first person Tony hit was Rogers, and Bucky was only included in that fight bcz he would never let Rogers fight alone.

He also only had .2 seconds to process all that trauma, whereas if Rogers had sat him down at some point and told him, where the murderer (no matter how unwilling, Bucky still killed them) wasn’t literally standing right in front of him, and where Tony would have had a ton of emotional support, the outcome would have been entirely different. Rogers just couldn’t risk Tony not funding his project bcz he never saw Tony as anything more than a selfish billionaire and so it was ok for Rogers to manipulate him.

Steve Stan: Steve didn’t have any projects.

Me: His search for Bucky... Someone had to have funded it for the two years before Civil War. By that point, SHIELD had fallen apart and there’s no way the US government payed for that. Rogers was also living on Avengers Compound, which was built, managed, and funded by Stark Industries

Steve Stan: Your points don’t make sense.

Saw this comment under your reblog:

“The entire movie (CA:CW) is just Tony Stark doing damage control in response to Steve Rogers”

And I couldn’t have said it better myself

let’s be honest, captain america: civil war was basically tony doing damage control for team cap who were being stubborn headasses in concern to international laws and borders 🤷🏾‍♀️

I just realized another difference between MCU Tony and Steve.

Steve since the day one thought of himself as a better man. As a person who was better than people around him, a person meant for great things, but who ultimately lacked the power to properly stand against the people he saw as bullies. Thanks to that, he was never driven by the idea to be a better person, because he already thought himself to be a better person since the beginning.

Tony on the other hand never saw himself as a better person, not truly. He may have felt proud of his accomplishments, his intellect, his tech, but it never made him feel as a better man than everybody around him, and Afghanistan only made him admit how flawed he was and how much he needed to change. Thanks to that, he was always driven by the idea to be a better person, because he knew he was not perfect, and his mistakes had real consequences.

Not being aware of your own flaws is a flaw all on itself. That’s why MCU Steve Rogers rubs me wrong. Because he is not aware of his own shortcomings as a person, and he lives in an illusion that he is the better man who was always meant to become great and do great things. He thinks himself flawless, while he is full of flaws.

Thinking about the fact that Steve has always been a rulebreaker and even before he became Captain America, he was allowed to get away with it because he was sickly Steve Rogers and as Cap, he was given leeway because he got shit done. Steve Rogers never learned that his actions have consequences because he was never around long enough to see them through.

Comparitively, Tony was a rulebreaker too, and during that time, he made enemies and allowed his ego to get the better of him and he knows and recognizes this. Tony strives to better himself by sticking to the rules because his experience says that if he does what he wants with no regard for who he hurts in the process, it is worse in the long run.

This was what caused the conflict between the two factions in Civil War. Steve had, a few years prior, taken down Hydra, and by extension SHIELD. No attempt was made on his part to attempt to remedy that, which meant that one of the only safegaurds put up for super-powered individuals was gone. With SHIELD gone, there was nothing to protect the Avengers from retribution from the governments they’d been operating in.

Tony opted to sign the accords because he and his army of lawyers could probably unravel the whole thing with time.

But Steve didn’t want to wait. He wanted instant satisfaction without considering the consequences of his actions. His team consisted of people with plenty to lose (Scott, Clint etc.) and his actions got them into serious trouble because Steve ‘I get what I want’ Rogers couldn’t wait.

Tony Stark learned from his mistakes, chose to take his experiences and grow as a person. Steve didn’t, he never had to face the consequences of his actions and henceforth, continued to be reckless and cause problems for himself and those around him.

You know what we do to people when they behave like Steve does? We put them in grippy sock jail or therapy. Steve simply got away with a slap on the wrist following the events of infinity war.

I actually remember reading this on the anti Wanda maximoff tag some time ago,but it really made an impact.the post was talking about how Wanda stans/tony antis shit on tony for trying to kill Bucky(which he wasn't bc he would have destroyed him,we've all seen iron man 2 and 3.if he wanted you dead you'd be dead)but like rabidly support Wanda and her revenge.

When I said I wanted more female representation in the MCU, this was not what I meant.

Honestly, Wanda stans give me a worse headache than cap stans. At least with Cap stans, Ik they’re just falling for that stupid USA propaganda. Other than being fooled by her white woman tears™️, idk wtf is wrong with her stans.

Wanda fully aware chose to join Hydra, a neo-nazi organization, as an adult, just because they were offering her “revenge” on Tony Stark, which makes her a fucking neo-nazi. She consciously decided to use her powers to mind-rape the Avengers. She actively decided to send the Hulk on a rampage to kill innocent civilians. She actively supported Ultron up until she realized she was one of the fucking humans he was going to wipe out, which makes her joining the Avengers a conflict of interest at best and pure self preservation/manipulation at worst. And all of that is just Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Later, she murders POC innocent civilians because she has no control over her powers, then gets upset and throws a fit when Tony says, “hey, maybe you shouldn’t be on life-or-death missions when you can’t control your powers”. Imagine if someone who didn’t know how to use a gun waltzed into the middle of a highly stressful mission in the middle of civilian ground with a machine gun, murdered innocent people, then got upset that they had to face consequences.

Then she throws a fit when someone suggests her microwave boyfriend’s life is less important than millions of innocent civilians, and with Cap’s support, thousands of Wakandans (black Africans) are killed, for nothing might I add considering she did a shit job and Thanos still got a hold of Vision’s stone, and half of the universe is snapped.

And woe is she, so she loses control of her powers, again, and enslaves a whole fucking city. But she didn’t know! So when she finds out that she’s hurting all of them, she throws another fit and forces them to continue playing along with her little fantasy.

And not once has she ever learned from any of her mistakes. Not once has she been humbled. Not once has she been forced to face the consequences of her actions. In fact, for her mistakes, others are punished.

But it’s alright. All of this is alright. She’s grieving and traumatized after all. Right? Because Tony Stark killed her parents with his bomb when she was a child.

Cry me a river. Why doesn’t she try to get revenge on the terrorists that deployed the bombs? Why does she actively choose to be an entitled cunt and put thousands of POC lives at risk? Why does she join a fucking neo-nazi organization?

Imagine going “oh I’m sad, I’ll join the KKK to feel better”.

But Tony is rich and she’s a white woman and she cries on screen.

And that, right there, is their logic I guess.

One of my favorite Tony Stark Criticisms is "He's a bad person! He made weapons for the military!"

What do you want him to do? Shut down his entire operation? Well I have some GREAT NEWS --

It’s funny how the antis blame Tony for “sending his friends to the Raft” like…bestie he was trying so hard to prevent that from even happening in the first place 💀 they literally CHOSE to not show up for Vienna and break international border laws like what were they actually expecting?

exactly! tony literally offers to intercept team cap because he knows it is either he does it or it is a bunch of soldiers who would not hesitate to spray bullets at them should they resist. in addition, team cap is full of adults who chose to break the law by violating international boundaries (even steve warns them that they are on the wrong side of the law should they follow him and they proceeded to follow him; and yes, wanda is an adult. if y’all also want to bitch at tony for bringing in a 14-year-old to web up team cap, i hope y’all extend the grace towards steve for bringing in a “kid” for that mission in lagos).

let us not even consider the accords at all in this case because i doubt they had been made into law (or whatever international bills become) due to the bombing of the un quarters, they were aiding a wanted man (innocent or not, you can be arrested for just that; and the government did have reasons to be scared of bucky given his history as the winter soldier) and they were illegally crossing borders to do just that.

that’s why i find it funny to see team cap stans, clint and scott bitching at tony for “throwing” them into the raft. like, my family in christ, y’all are there because you knowingly violated international boundaries 💀.

p.s: this is not a post arguing about the morality of the raft or the accords, go do that shit else where. my point is you cannot break the law while fully aware of what could happen and then blame others when the consequences smack you right in the fucking face.

A buncha idiots found my pro Tony/anti Steve post because they can't stay out of tags that upset them much like toddlers that want to keep eating lemons despite hating the taste, so I guess it's time for another hurricane of pro Tony/anti Steve posts

Also, for the record: Steve insisting on being in the battlefield despite being a liability is not noble nor inspiring, it's stupid and belittling of the people that helped war effort despite not being able to go to the battlefield. So sorry that your "pretty Captain" looks down on people that won't or can't be in the front lines, but it is what it is. He was lucky he got the serum, and even luckier that it made him so big no one would go against him.

I think something that people forget about Tony Stark is that he was incredibly humble.

Now, before you click off in rage, let's define humility.

Maya Angelou defines humility as "Humility is knowing your place in the world. It’s understanding that you are not the first person who has ever done anything important." C.S. Lewis defines humility as "not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less."

We can get humility and self-deprecation skewed very easily. Tony has both, admittedly, as well as a cocky streak - but his interactions with people are incredibly humble. He is not threatened by people who are as smart as him, in fact he looks to hire them and get them on his team. He is not intimidated by stronger men, in fact - he hopes to fund them (the Avengers, hello!) and work with them. Tony Stark does not suffer from short-man syndrome, nor does he have a jealous streak in him. He is aware of his place in the world, he thinks of others' needs before his own (even if sometimes he misinterprets those needs) and he is not threatened by people who are at his level. I think sometimes the fandom forgets that.

just a little reminder: had tony not pulled the strings he pulled, wanda would've spent life-long imprisonment rotting in jail in a high security cell instead of spending a comfy holiday inside a huge luxury mansion with her months-old android crush. and then her unthankful ass had to send all that to shit. man, tony was way too nice to this neo-nazi genocidal scumbag, even after she violated his mind out of pure vengeful hatred. yes im still salty:))

I mean he is plenty traumatized, but it doesn’t much affect him in the way that it isn’t a trauma of autistic kind, because he as genius was encouraged to be the genius, and being a genius was literally indulging in all the autistic and ADHD things which autistic kids are attacked for. He definitely had to learn how to act from the young age, but it was due to being famous and too expressive, not because it was wrong to be autistic. Tony doesn’t have typical signs which autistic people who have trauma stemming from their autism and their family and society trying to beat autism out of them. Tony doesn’t have that. He has all the signs of a traumatized human being, but not traumatized autistic. And that’s why people miss it so much. This is how non abused for being autistic person behaves. This is how autistic people would be if they were not constantly broken by the society in order to fit in. We are diagnosed based on our trauma traits.

Holly was in a podcast about autism in MCU and what it meant to us!

Autism is actually the most commonly mistook for narcissism.

(I also do not get it. Elon is nothing like Tony. I know RDJ said he based his performance on Elon Musk, but if he did, he really did fail miserably to be the same. He comes off so much more empathetic).

Maybe if autistic people tell you that a character is autistic, you should actually fucking believe them instead of I dunno accuse them of trying to excuse bad behavior with a diagnosis. Since when, being autistic excuses any bad behavior? Also, I do not want to give any credit to Joss fucking Whedon, whom I hate with passion, but he did say that Tony is autistic. Maybe that’s why he hates him so much. Because I cannot explain his treatment of that character if there was not either deep misunderstanding of who Tony is or hate.

everyone always focuses on Sokovia and Ultron and Tony's involvement but no one ever thinks about how Bruce was also involved completely because they're both scientists. no one thinks about Wanda purposefully going in and digging in Tony's head, amplifying his PTSD and putting visions of all his friends dead in his head with the intent of making Tony create Ultron

Everyone always focuses on blaming Tony for the bomb that killed Wanda's parents but no one thinks about Tony being so shit faced he couldn't see straight at that time bec he was so deep in self-medicating his trauma that he could not even run his company and that it was Obidiah Stane that was the one in charge of the company and illegally selling the weapons that killed her parents

Everyone focuses on Tony selling weapons in the first movie but no one thinks about how it was Howard Starks company and that Tony was groomed from birth to run it and that he had tried multiple times to make something else of the company but was constantly shut down with guilt tripping until he was kidnapped and he forced the manufacturing to end

Everyone focuses on Tony being "conceited" and "arrogant" and not "caring about anyone but himself" but no one thinks about how every single action he makes in his movies are about protecting the people he loves and cares for. His biggest fear is his friends- not himself- dying. he goes into every battle he's in fully prepared to die and does make the sacrifice play many many times

everyone always focuses on what Tony did wrong, but no one thinks about how much he has grown and how he spends every single waking moment trying to be a better and better man who cares so deeply about everyone and is trying to protect everyone the only way he knows how- and that is with the brain and intellect that had been the only thing about Tony that was ever praised about

Let’s talk Civil War.

(Ik. It’s been years. I’m sorry. I’m stuck in the past.)

Other than the fact that Tony’s side of the Accords is the non-contested accepted correct side in the entire fucking world except the USA (seriously, the entire world is telling you you’re wrong and you still insist otherwise? Maybe y’all’s really do belong on Team Cap), let’s dissect every Team Cap fan’s POV and rebut them.

1. The government should not impose on powered people’s freedoms.

Aside from the fact that this shows a fairly concerning blatant ignorance of the United Nations and all forms of international government, I can name on one hand the number of countries where “freedom” is portrayed as it is in the USA. Do you know what the stance on freedom is in the rest of the world? Your personal freedom ends at the safety of the community. (This is especially interesting during COVID and the vaccine and masking) Your life is your own, do whatever shit you want to do. No one gives a fuck if you want to eat ham or turkey for dinner. But when your “personal freedom” starts putting other’s lives at risk, it’s a fucking problem. It’s not “personal freedom” when you’re marching into a school wearing bombs. It’s not “personal freedom” when you start carrying a machine gun and threatening anyone you think is wrong. That is effectively what most of the Avengers are. They’re walking around with weapons and threatening anyone that doesn’t agree with them. And if you can’t see why that’s problematic, I don’t trust you.

2. The Government should not monitor individuals.

All governments monitor individuals and if you think otherwise, then I’m sorry but what fantasy world are you living in? Governments monitoring individuals is, usually, what leads to them catching terrorists before they blow up your local gas station or school. Governments monitoring individuals is an everyday occurrence in the entire fucking world and for due reason when people start threatening to murder world leaders or hate crime minorities. The Avengers getting monitored by the government is no different than any other civilian but for the crucial factor that the Avengers can and have acted on their threats based on personal disagreements.

3. The Government is corrupt.

This again just shows a blatant ignorance of international law and the United Nations, and, frankly, entitlement. The Accords were never going to give the United States government complete control over the Avengers when the initial problem was that US citizens were parading around with their weapons without any regard to international concerns. Further, even if any government is corrupt the way Hydra infiltrated the US government, the United Nations consists of 193 countries, 117 of them voted for the Accords, all of them would still have a say in what the Avengers do. Tell me, and use your logic please, how it could possibly be easier to corrupt 193 countries, the entire fucking world, than it is to corrupt 6 weaponized individuals all US citizens?

4. General Ross is known as the bad guy and therefore the Accords are bad because he supports them.

Correlation not causation. The Accords were written by at least 117 countries and amended by all 193 of them. Under international law, every country is allowed their representatives of their choosing, but all representatives must be present for something to actually pass. Meaning, yes, the US representative was a corrupt piece of shit, but there’s at least 192 other representatives (some countries choose to have multiple), thus, again, we go back to the argument of, is it easier to corrupt one individual or a whole board?

5. The Avengers would never have been deployed because countries have opposing decisions.

The Avengers were never supposed to be deployed for Earth-level threats anyhow. “So when the world needed them, they could fight the battles we never could” ~ Nick Fury. Key words: when needed, never could. In other words, the Avengers were not supposed to be constantly on missions, only when there was a need for a team of heroes. Further, they were not meant to fight the everyday bad guy, not terrorists or thieves or murderers, the Avengers were made to fight Extinction-level threats. It takes years of training to learn how to correctly, legally, and safely catch the everyday bad guy. None of the Avengers have gone through that training, and them being involved in such missions has canonically resulted in mass casualties. And when it comes to extinction-level threats, darling, not a single human is going to go, “well, I want the planet I’m living in to explode”, therefore, the Avengers will be deployed for those, aka: their correct purpose.

6. Some countries can’t fight their bad guys.

If you cannot see how this is blatant American Imperialism propaganda, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s true, some countries struggle with crime rates, but it is still their right as a country to decide when and how to ask for help rather than have it be imposed on them. Are you also walking around saying “we had to send our military to Afghanistan and blow up their lands, they couldn’t deal with their bad people” or “we had to take over Iraq, Syria, etc”? It’s not the place of the US government to choose how other countries deal with crimes, and it is most certainly not the place of 6 weaponized (white) US citizens to do so either.

7. Some countries are corrupt and choose not to fight their bad guys.

This effectively makes the Avengers political weapons (one of the valid concerns of the Accords), and proves exactly why the Accords are needed. Are the Avengers supposed to assassinate any world leader they deem corrupt? Because that is what it would be, assassinations. How is that not abuse of their powers? How can it be justified in any shape, way, or form? What would make them different than dictators then? “If you don’t agree with me, I’ll assassinate you and replace you with someone who does”.

8. The Superhuman Registration Act is a bad thing in the comics and the Accords are in its place.

True, the Registration Act was a terrible thing, but it comes under very different circumstances in the comics than it does in the MCU, and to ignore the political climate and story of the MCU is downright idiotic. The MCU is an entirely different story and universe than Earth-616. Why are you watching the MCU if you just want the story of the comics? Go read the comics then. This screams either one of two:

A. A lack of cognitive abilities.

B. A child throwing a fit because they didn’t get exactly what they want.

And honestly, neither is a cute look.

Did you also throw a tantrum when they replaced an orientalist racist depiction of a Chinese villain by a white man in Iron Man 3?

9. Captain America is an amazing hero in the comics.

Again, in the comics. Not the MCU. In the comics, Peter Parker’s best friend is Harry Osborn, not Ned Leeds. In the comics, Pepper Potts marries Happy Hogan, not Tony Stark. In the comics, Wanda and Pietro Maximoff are Romani-Jewish, not white. In the comics, Alexei Shostakov is Natasha Romanoff’s husband, not father. Catch my drift? The comics are different, and MCU Steve Rogers is not 616 Steve Rogers. To pretend otherwise is boring.

10. Team Cap is hot.

Honestly, the blond blue eyed look isn’t my cup of tea, but I get it. What I don’t understand is why you have to justify all their actions to love them? I adore Tywin Lannister. I’m not walking around justifying him wiping out entire families and ordering the sexual assault and murder of Elia Martell and her children. You can like someone and admit they’ve done some fucked up shit. It’s not that deep. It’s deep when you try to say they’re in the right for the fucked up shit they did.

11. Bucky.

Honestly, Bucky is his own whole complex post and if I get into it here, this post will last for days, so I won’t. I will admit that Tony was in the wrong for some parts of that, but even yet, Rogers was entirely in the wrong for everything he did “for” Bucky, and this whole dilemma could have been prevented if Rogers had for one singular second thought to go about everything the legal way. (I could make another post if I’m encouraged enough)

12. The Avengers are the good guys.

That’s the Doylist explanation. We as outside viewers know that. The Watsonian explanation is entirely different. World governments in the MCU don’t know for sure the Avengers are the good guys. What they know is that the Avengers have been involved in the complete destruction of government buildings, intelligence buildings, an entire country, and more. Do you know what we call people who blow up governmental and intelligence buildings full of innocent civilians here? Terrorists.

13. The Accords.

This isn’t an argument I’ve seen per se, but more of a general misunderstanding I’ve seen on both sides. It doesn’t surprise me though. Civil War shows one single thin file as being the entire Accords, that Rogers flips through quickly and decides is a mistake. There is absolutely no way that is correct for the United Nations. UN documents can be thousands of pages long, they’re written by legal professionals from at least tens of countries, they cover every possible scenario and they’re open to amendments. They’re worked on so long that it takes years for them to be passed. They’re filled with so much legal jargon that one singular flick will result in you understanding nothing. More likely though, Rogers was given a brief introduction and summary. Thus, him immediately deciding he doesn’t like it without even knowing what it is, gives the same energy as a child throwing a tantrum for being forced to try kiwis for the first time.

It is possible that I’ve forgotten some arguments, I’m only human after all, but if you, (respectfully. I will not be answering anyone who throws slurs or hate speech), have any, I don’t mind dissecting them.

Lastly, to wrap up my post, all I have to say is one question. Is it possible that the whole world, that at least 5-6 billion people, are wrong, and Steve Rogers is correct?

This was so well written and explained. If you seriously don’t understand pro team ironman, please read it.

To all those team cappers, have a look at the below, if you really wanna know why the people with, y'know, common sense are so anti team cap.
