Unless your under 16, being sad and hurt that a stranger got married is not a normal reaction. And throwing insults, making up lies and harassing people over it is even worse.

Being a fan of someone does not give you a say in their personal life. Ever. Celebrities are not your friends, they're not family, they are strangers. Stop acting like they owe you something. They don't.

It is not 100% foolproof. The added benefit of these community programs, which get funded by the local government most of the time, is if there are more people using them then they can get more money to help more people.

You're not taking resources from other people if you use your community services. Your taxes pay for them. Use them.

Warning: do not delete any sideblogs

I’ve been seeing it happen to a handful of people, but apparently if you try to delete your sideblog you will end up deleting your MAIN tumblr account entirely as well I don’t know if this is a bug or something, but I’ve seen it happen to ~4 people now, so until this possible bug gets worked out do NOT delete any of your sideblogs unless you want to risk deleting your account entirely

I go into the tag for epilepsy and its all flashing lights. We can’t use our own tag because people without epilepsy fill it up with improper warnings.

Use ‘flashing’ in place of ‘epilepsy’ in your tags. You aren’t warning people of epileptics, you’re warning us of flashing lights. Please please tag properly. Epileptics say this endlessly and constantly and it’s ignored. You are risking lives by doing this.

Sorry if it's a morbid question but I'm at that age when death is coming closer each day, and I'm wondering what to do with my fics on AO3 and tumblr should I die one day. Of course I can put them in a will or get someone's help. But me writing fanfics is like a secret identity that none of my family or friends know. They're not into it and I don't think they'll value them either. They'll probably trash them but I'll love for anyone to adopt them if they like to. So any ideas or suggestions?

Not morbid at all! Planning for the future isn’t depressing, it’s planning. Taking care of something that’s on your mind will only make you feel better about things, anyway :)

As for the answer to your question, AO3 has exactly what you’re looking for: Fannish Next of Kin. This is the person that you decide you want to have take care of your works after you die. They’re a fandom friend you trust, but you don’t have to know them in person. You don’t even need to know their real name. You just have to trust that they’ll follow your wishes after you’re gone.  

In the event of your death, the Archive will transfer your account into that person’s control and they can manage it on your behalf.

LiveJournal in my early 20’s was my first real taste of Fandom. The ban hammer after people got reported and the fear that any fanfic we produced we’d be sued for was what turned me into the lurker and reader, rather than contributer and/or producer of content, I am in fandom today.

I feel like fandom generations are both very specific and easily conflated. Like,, you either live through so many they blur together into one hellish mess or you join in on one generation and remain blissfully unaware of the previous ones

And you know what saddens me? I've never seen Australian tragedies trending here on this website. I mean it's been going on for months and only now does it seem to really be getting recognized, even if it is only at #9.

And I'm going to be honest with you here - the internet, and media in general is so American centric, this website being no exception. You'd think that an entire continent being on fire for several months with devastating consequences would have more recognition, but no, it really doesn't. The most notes I've ever seen on a post about the Australian fires is at least a few thousand, and that's about it.

So just... please. If you can, with this post or any other post in regards to the fires going on down here, reblog. Because the only thing that should be spreading like wildfire, is a post about a burning country...

As someone who has deleted my AO3 history once, not realising that it also cleared the “Marked for Later” fics too, this *is* an important addition.

In case you need to know this for some reason, you can clear your AO3 history by pressing the “clear history” button at the top of the page. 

If you just want to remove one or two fics instead of all of them, you can click the “delete from history” button at the bottom of the fic description.

Anyone who needs the answer to @nandamai’s question please see the comments. It’s a serious issue and one that could see AO3 taken off the internet if not adhered to.
