Do you think Cedric and Cordelia were both extra agitated on the days leading upto Calista's 10th birthday? Did they double check each and every potion before Calista used it? Maybe they start having nightmares about the actual day. What if something happens? What if Calista has to suffer extreme humiliation just like they did? They couldn't possibly let such a thing happen to her. So they take all the precautions they can so nothing happens to ruin Calista's special day. And they promise to themselves that if anything was to happen, they would handle it better than their parents did.
